The competition pool is awesome!
Variety of equipment
I love the variety of classes available. The lobby area is a fun place to meet people. I love that all sorts of people use the Y. I’ve started volunteering to read to the children’s classes which I really enjoy. All the staff are friendly and reach out to members.
EGYM!
I'm grateful for such a super YMCA in this area! I primarily use the Y for group fitness and find that it generally meets my needs.....I sign up for a variety of classes (core, yoga, Pilates, Barre, Soul Fusion, etc.). I want to make a suggestion regarding your yoga classes in particular (note: I am not attending classes scheduled before 9 am or after 5 pm):
1) The schedule might give a more accurate description of the kind of yoga offered -- most of the classes are basic and stretching. I have not been to a class that I would describe as Intermediate. example: the instructors fail to include even a standard sun salutation flow . . .. most are over-modified. It would be helpful to label them as "Yoga Basics" , and "All Levels". The "All Levels" would help to satisfy your intermediate members and offer modifications to the newer yogis.
2) I have been to a couple of disappointing classes where the instructor dumbed the class down ending with an overly long shivasana to use up the remainder of class time. Make sure your instructors are certfied and understand how to lead a class even when they are doing minimal pose demonstrations.
All of the Yoga/Mat Pilates classes are good but again, I think the instructors should bring more of the "real" Pilates to the class. I enjoy them and want more!
All of the other fitness classes I enjoy deliver the workout as advertised.
Just so you don't think I am advocating for a younger age group; I am over 70.
I only go to use equipment and walk a few laps around the track.
I really enjoy the silver sneakers class and will be
Scheduling others as well.
Only here for the Pickleball :) West Chester has great early morning times.
Exercise classes are great!
Great swimming pool.
we just joined, to early to give feedback.
Programs are great. It’s unfortunate that it was decided to charge an additional fee to play pickleball in the new facility. I believe it goes against the the Y’s foundation of inclusion I understand a lot of people want to play but charging almost as much as an annual membership is not the answer. The West Chester Y could have converted the lower parking lot facing Paoli pike for less money than converting a whole facility.
The choices
Friendly atmosphere with great activities.
There are so many to pick from that it is hard to choose.
The staff is very caring and helpful.
Comfortable atmosphere, friendly and very helpful staff
They are available at my convienence.
I like the teachers that run the fit lite classes.
I love the swim team program! It is so well run and the coaches are so good with the kids. They help them to progress but in an encouraging way. We love Coach Kris and Coach Jane! I also appreciate the availability of childcare so I can workout or watch my one child swim while my other is able to play with his/ her friends from school.
The gym is wonderful
Group workouts are fantastic. Clean too

Large variety of activities, programs and events
Cares about the community
I enjoy the yoga classes at the West Chester Area Y. There is a wide range of levels for yoga as well as each teacher provides variations to poses to accommodate differing levels of ability as well as mobility of those who attend the class.
Sauna and pool are my favorite perks!
My reward for working out in the gym.
The programs are good and I’ve met a lot of nice people and made friends
We like the family friendly activities, the pool and swim team!

I love the availability of water aerobic classes( although I would love a Friday class) And the instructors are invested in making sure you are doing the exercises the right way..
I know pickleball is evolving but sometimes there is an air of superiority that is not welcoming by some of the participants.
The front desk is welcoming and I love the diversity of programs that are offered..
