Thoughtful counselors
The hours are great and the price is reasonable. I like that they get to swim. I feel like they make an extra effort to keep the kids entertained!
All of the staff are very friendly and inviting! They treated my son like family and I truly value and appreciate that! If you are looking for a summer camp where your child can thrive safely and happily, definitely look to the Y for that!
I give this YMCA a ten. Not only is the Y based on Christian values, but it shows through the great customer service and inclusion. It is the melting pot of gyms offering basically everything. I can’t think of another gym that offers more. Also, I just remembered I was a summer day camp counselor here when I was a rising senior and I’m now 57 newly moved back to the area for my health and now a member, the circle of life. Thank you Y!🙏

The programming is great.
there is still an ongoing practice of sitting at exercise machines and texting for prolonged time. Its not that hard to spot. Have staff politely remind members to get off the machine if they want to text.
Lakewood front desk staff is always friendly and polite. I visit other YMCA's for my water classes, which I enjoyed wholeheartedly.
What I love about Lakewood is the Saunas. You have the best!

My daughter enjoys going to the YMCA - After School Program at her school. It has been extremely convenient for her and our family since the After School Program is on-site at her school. The team of YMCA counselors are a great group of people. We haven't had any issues and I feel they are always attentive. I am always made aware of any behavior issues as well as praises for good behavior. I feel my daughter is safe and that's what matters most. Thank you YMCA.

It really is sad how little investment the Durham Ys have. I have started going to the Alexander Y in Raleigh (near work) and it is a top notch facility with top notch instructors. I really wish Durham Y could recruit and keep knowledgeable instructors.
Friday yoga class is wonderful. Facility is clean. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable
For me it was excellent, the teachers are all good, the children do activities and it is a very good option. I would recommend it 100%
I loved the people. Especially loved that it was run from the school. My son loved it once he got used to the idea and met friends.

I love the classes and wish there were even more for people who work! Would love more dance/zumba offerings but they need to be with high energy instructors! Shy, quiet instructors just don't give the energy that makes those classes so much fun!
The instructors, staff, and other members are great. Please add some fans to the center of the fitness room!
Private sauna and steam room. The cleanness of the locker rooms. The gym equipment needs replacement or updating. Especially the ones that are broken. Members can get injured.

Lakewood is uniquely friendly, both staff and membership. Frequent members are fiercely loyal to this location for a reason. Great steam room!

I like the small setting and equipment.
Has the equipment I need for the kind of training I want to do, convenient location, nice amenities (strong showers, always towels ready at hand), and everyone is friendly. It was exactly what I was looking for when I was looking for a gym.
