I like the YMCA. It would be nice of it opened earlier or stayed open later at night. We do enjoy the Y.
Mel Korum YMCA is a great place especially for seniors. Friendly staff, great classes, clean facility and just plain fun.
Friendly people and staf
If I may start with appreciation for all of the staff that make each visit a great experience. Many things they do are behind the scenes, unnoticed and probably under appreciated. The aquatics schedules are difficult to decipher and vary between web version, weekly download version and the posted version at the location. I've seen improvements on this next topic already but would lime to see more staff monitor the locker rooms and changing areas. I continue to see males in the female areas with their phones out and positioned in a way to video or photograph my child. I've raised the concern at the time with staff who promptly responded. I feel there needs to be more frequent monitoring of these areas to keep other members and dependents safe. The changing rooms could use more upkeep and tending. Any way we can attach the stools to the changing rooms? For some reason folks aren't using the provided benches near the lockers and I'm having to relocate the stools from the changing areas back to the changing areas. Again I'm seeing improvement around cleanliness. One example, providing tissues in the locker rooms has reduced the amount of bogeys wiped on the walls of the changing rooms. Kudos to the cleaning staff for tending the affected walls. Kudos to the maintenance staff for quickly tending to anything that isn't working correctly. Showers not turning off among many other things they keep operational without members realizing their hard work.
A lot of exercise machines to choose from. Clean a nd friendly atmosphere.
Clean, friendly, good hours, nice equipment and variety of equipment.
I appreciate how the instructors won’t pass a student until they are absolutely ready. Also, I think the staff does a good job handling difficult parents, like myself occasionally. We have been members for over a year now and I can see how working in the aquatics department can be tricky, but they do a good job. My kids love coming here to swim.
Clean, free as a benefit to my healthcare insurance. Pleasant staff and other members
I would recommend the Y because of your instructors. I push myself seven days a week, and Tara Steckler had me sore from head to toe after her Friday muscle toning class. She truly has a gift for motivating members and leading challenging classes with a variety of moves that target all muscle groups, catering to beginners through advanced levels. Anyone can take her class, regardless of their level, and they’ll soon find themselves progressing in both strength and stamina.
My attendance at the Y varies due to travel and lately health issues. The instructional pool
is the most important to us. It was recommended to me many years ago by the doctor
helping me with back issues. I really appreciate it when the pool is warm. When it's just been
filled it's too cold for my old bones (and others too). I appreciate having the morning hours without young children. I love little kids, however; they can become unintentionally a trip hazard.
Thanks for asking. It's good to be back after a couple months away due to a sinus problem.
Convenience of being close to home, nice pools and hottub
I've not been to any type of YMCA, this is my first experience, and I must say this is very impressive. The staff, wow, they are wonderful, the facility itself is very clean, I really enjoy being here. A HUGE THANK YOU TO THE MEL KORUM FAMILY for this facility. Sincerely Don Last name removed.
Nice facilities and equipment. Love the age your children have to be to workout upstairs! Nice staff!
All the Staff are very friendly. They greet you when you come in and leave. The staff is also very knowledgeable and helpful. They give you positive encouragement. When you are taking a class, the stall also looks out for your safety, as well as, your well being. The "Y" is just such a friendly, supportive, and encouraging place to exercise.
Great environment! I love they have scriptures posted and the backer of spiritual vitamins.
Staff is friendly, facility is beautifully maintained

It’s very accommodating and friendly. Easy to access programs and the instructors are good and helpful
I have just come back to the Y after being gone for two years. I was going to another gym never felt comfortable. Once. I came back to the Y. I felt like I was home. I love all the classes available and it’s nice to see familiar faces
Instructors are helpful, know about the classes they teach. The front desk is welcoming in and always answers any questions. The members are welcoming, friendly and it's a great community.
The friendliness of the employees and staff so many different things to do with the workout machines and the classes
Zumba classes and the staff!
Great welcome desk, great instructors, great pool, and great cleaning staff!
Indoor running track
It is a top-notch place not only for all ages but handicapped people as well and I really enjoyed it. Thank you guys. Keep up the good work
I love the different options that are offered to workout. The yoga instructors are wonderful, however, who ever plans the schedule should join us for a yoga session. Maybe then, they will realize how awful it is to have the loudest class (Zumba) right above the quietest one. It definitely does not make the experience as enjoyable as it could be..
Today was my daughter’s very first swim lesson class ever. She just turned 4 last week and has been looking forward to tonight since registration last Wednesday.
After a long day (and a head cold that’s trying to take me out) I accidentally brought her to the Mel korum branch when we were supposed to go to the Gordon family. I didn’t realize it until teachers came to collect the kids and saw she wasn’t on any of the lists. My heart immediately sank…she was going to be absolutely heartbroken if I told her she didn’t get to swim tonight. She’s been talking about it (and telling everyone else all about it) for almost a week now. I did not catch the older gentleman’s name at the desk in the office but he was very friendly and understanding and when he started telling me there was no preschool 1 class to slip her into, a guy (Matthew, I’m pretty sure)
didn’t even hesitate to offer to get in and teach her for this one class so she didn’t have to miss out and leave heartbroken.
Not only was I over the moon with gratitude for both of them, but Matthew was phenomenal with her. Like I said, this was her very first lesson and she was nervous about not knowing the teacher or knowing what to expect and he was so sweet and excited and made it so much fun for her - and he didn’t even have to.
I can’t explain how much that meant to both of us! It gave our night a completely different ending when my forgetfulness could have ruined it. But it also gave the beginning of her swim lesson experience the absolute best start. We just left the class 20 minutes ago and she hasn’t stopped talking about “the best swim class and nicest swim coach ever!”
I truly can’t tell you how much the whole experience meant to me. I will never forget it ❤️
