We absolutely love the Tom Taylor YMCA. We have two little ones and the staff have been so gracious towards us when it comes to caring for them. Having child watch available allows for us to enjoy some much needed respite and time for us to take a moment for some self care.
I think the only thing I’m nervous about is the future parking situation when the park and sports complex opens up. It’s going to be a great addition and I know we will utilize it, but the Y already has such limited parking, I feel like the presence of the park is going to encroach on the members parking spots

My wife and I belonged to several pretty fancy health clubs when we lived in the Bay Area. When we moved to these parts it seemed like the local YMCA was the closest (only) thing we could get to those types of facilities. The Gig Harbor Y was pretty good but not quite in the same league as what we were used to in California. But we went there anyway. My wife passed away some years back and after that happened I dropped out of the Y....and everything else. Seven years after she died I decided to rejoin and was absolutely astonished at what the Tom Taylor Y had become during those intervening years when I was in absentia. As good or better than anything I had ever seen before in California: huge weight room, numerous cardio machines, indoor jogging track and group exercise classes. If you care about taking care of yourself and/or know people who do, I HIGHLY recommend signing up for our Gig Harbor YMCA. (Even if you're not a member of The Village People.)
I like the whole experience! It’s a well run gym with great facilities, friendly employees, and an indoor walking track. It’s easy to get to and easy to check-in. There are programs for just about anything you might want to do, from chair yoga to racketball to swimming to a rock climbing wall! There are programs for tots all the way up to seniors. Oh, don’t forget basketball and racket ball. It has everything!

I like that the YMCA is so busy - nice vibe.
So many things! Friendly staff. Enjoying the mix of exercise and other class options such as learning guitar and creative writing courses. Also a great place for our support group to meet.

It's a great place to workout, staff friendly and place is always clean. Only issue is that some members sit on machines on their phones, while others would like to use them. Not sure how to address this, but it can be a bit frustrating!

Classes and instructors are great. James's zumba class is FANTASTIC and he's an awesome instructor .
He makes everyone feel welcome and gives good instructions for newbies. Everyone misses him and can't wait til he returns.
Facilities does a great job in keeping lockers, bathrooms and equipment clean and I really appreciate them. I have been to YMCAs across the country and ours is the best!😁
Parking in the mornings are challenging.😬 very crowded so hope Sports Complex doesn't
make parking worse.
Pool is very busy and sometimes getting a lap
lane is challenging. Wish some people were
more courteous when sharing a lane and not
take up my side and hit me. 😒 Also if a child
has a toilet accident and the recreation side
has to close don't close lap lanes and allow the
same kids to play in the lap lanes and take up
space.
Other than that I love the Y and feel very lucky to have such a great well taken care of facility in Gig Harbor. I have been a member since 1980 (started at Morgan Family) when my husband gave me a YMCA membership and enrolled me in a fitness class for my wedding present!🤣 Looking back now it was a lifetime gift where I have met wonderful people and made lifetime friends. Some I still work out with and we're in our 70's.
The staff is always helpful and friendly and the facility is always clean and inviting. The members at this location are really super and friendly also. Only complaint is the men’s steam and sauna are just too small but not much can be done about that and hopefully with the new facility next door parking at peak times will improve with additional spaces that employees can park further out leaving spaces for members.

I really enjoyed the kickstart under the guidance of Dean. He did an excellent job, a very personable fellow and a big proponent of y m.C a.... So i've been coming up on my own, but just starting the process....
Friendly reception, quality machines and other resources. The environment feels safe and supportive of health and wellness physically, mentally and spiritually.
Love the Y! Also, love the instructor, Holly Kennedy. She is teaching me how to properly swing Kettlebells and they are so fun! I have a request - can the Y purchase more kettlebells - so that there are enough for those who workout on the green grass on the first floor, as well as for those who utilize the kettlebells on the "tower"?
Water aerobics. The best instructor is Marty. She consistently teaches a great workout that makes me feel healthier.
It's close to my house. It's modern and not too big. Great classes and great instructors.
This YMCA has excellent youth classes. The senior exercise classes are also excellent. I know so many friends and neighbors who utilize this YMCA and love it. Our family takes classes or exercises there nearly every day. Friendly, helpful staff!
