I love the variety of options for my family.
The staff is incredible, knowledgeable, helpful and personable
Great place to workout
Our daughter has been in YMCA aquatics for a few years. She has thrived in these classes and progressed from no water experience to comfort and skill in the pool.
very cool place
The classes are taught by instructors who care about the people and are very energetic.
The David D. Hunting YMCA might be the nicest gym I have ever been to. Not only is the facility currently undergoing renovations -- new flooring, new wall colors, and more -- but the space it provides is like no other health and wellness space that I have visited. With three floors you get not one but TWO pools, a lobby area, two group fitness studios, a group cycling studio, child care and then an enormous fitness space complete with weights, machines, cardio equipment, track, basketball courts, racquetball courts and more. The biggest selling point for me is the breathtaking 360 view (cue Charli XCX) of downtown Grand Rapids.
And if the space itself wasn't incredible enough, the staff make it even better. From those who greet you at the membership desk to the gym floor staff who make sure everyone is safe to the cleaning staff doing an impeccable job of keeping the facility looking flawless -- it's truly a highlight of my day to be at the David D. Hunting YMCA.
Clean and welcoming facilities. Comfortable and spacious also.
I like the zumba classes and the machines availability on the third floor, I like the people who welcome members, the easiness of finding parking when I get there.
I love all of the classes they offer and the various equipment options. The staff has always been very kind and helpful.
The Y facility, associates, and members. It is a privilege to be a member here. Keep up the good work!
Thank you!
Nice variety of equipment. However, the squat rack and bench press areas are sometimes occupied a long time by people who do several exercises, most of which can be done elsewhere. Perhaps there could be a time limit displayed in those areas to encourage folks to spend less time there. It would be voluntary, and some might not comply, but it would make us more mindful of others needing the equipment.
Great value, clean, nice facility, employees are very friendly.
Always very clean and employees are nice & friendly. I do wish it had massages available. If I want one from the Y I have to go to one by 54th St. Also it would be nice to have a sign outside before you go in if pool or other areas are closed.
Clases, swim lanes, sauna, childcare
Beautiful facilities and all the windows on the 3rd floor
Employees are always nice.

Cleanliness, and friendly staff!
The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Teacher
Although the latest DDH building renovations are messy and inconvenient, it's still an outstanding facility and program. However, I am not looking forward to the winter walk from the GVSU parking to the Y front door. I especially grieve what this parking situation means for my physically challenged friends.
Community - aqua arthritis!
It's a place where anyone can work out, experience sport and meet other people. So much equipment, carefully cared for, available to anyone. I wish I could visit every day.
The Y is a safe and welcoming space that helps me work toward my personal goals.
