Renovation to the locker rooms/ but parking is chaotic!!
It is a very open feeling space. I like the windows overlooking downtown. Many gyms feel closed in and depressing (including a lot of the other area YMCAs) but the DDH Y is not like that. I like the variety of cardio machines and weights. I like the track. I like the classes. I like the diversity of people who come there. I like the puzzles and coffee that are left out for guests. All staff are very friendly (especially Rodney at the front desk - always has a welcoming word).
Excellent facility. Well maintained and clean.
Very helpful staff. Greet us upon entering.
Very large beautiful facility that is in a constant state of improvement. I believe it is going to get even better. It is worth it to deal with the construction as the Improvement continues.
I like the staff and the environment and it’s very clean and well put together.
Smooth work out session for me!
With my recent knee injury, the staff offers advice and suggestions that align with my doctor's orders.
It is a welcoming space for those on a wellness journey right in the heart of GR.
I took a yoga class at this location because my usual wasn’t scheduled. The facility is really beautiful! I was told the women’s locker room was new & it looked really great! Everyone was really friendly and helpful since I wasn’t sure where to go.
I enjoy the culture and the presence the Y has within all the communities.
Good people on staff. Plenty of lanes for swimming.
Great atmosphere for all ages
I like the pool the most.
Clean & friendly
Location, early classes.
Exercise machines and exercise bikes
The gym is becoming better and better. The number and assortment of machines and free weights is fantastic, the layout makes sense, and the availability of multiple pools, basketball courts, sauna, steam room, and hot tub, are hard to find in other gyms. Machines are regularly maintained and updated, with the latest and greatest, as well as regular replacing of pads and linings. While some work remains ongoing, it will only result in an even better product. Parking has changed and while there is another two or three minutes added to getting in and out, the new garage is incredibly easy to navigate, and parking is abundant. No more driving around and hoping that a spot opens up while you are in the lot.
Very polite and helpful Y employee
Friendly staff, very clean and well organized.
The gym and pool.
The space is clean, the equipment is well maintained and a wonderful selection of equipment as well!
Friendly Staff, Clean environment, hours of operation..
what I don't like is the people who are using the machines are constantly viewing their phones, when they should be using the machines, which causes others to have to wait unnecessary for them. It's a pain & very frustrating. The staff have to do something to avoid this Craziness!!!
I like the variety of classes.
The environment
After November 1, 2025 when 'Revamp is Complete', a better experience about the changes
that where made will be given.......
I love the Y because they have all the equipment I could possibly want to achieve my fitness goals. The indoor track, the group fitness classes, the pool, and the amazing staff all make it a great place to work out. As a trans guy, I also really appreciate the gender neutral locker rooms.
Large indoor track, ample space and equipment,
I feel that the classes are accessible and a great mix of different people and abilities. The instructors are full of energy and encouragement. I appreciate the wide variety of classes and equipment available for use.
We joined the YMCA just after the pandemic in an effort to help my daughter (who is autistic) to become a better swimmer. After going to many swim schools and trainers previously, we were nervous to engage but then met Ms. Indya at the GR YMCA. She absolutely did what no other instructor was able to do, which was teach my daughter to simply love swimming. She was incredibly patient and kind. When my daughter was terrified to put her face in the water, she didn't push it but eventually bought her a snorkel mask which she took to immediately. She now dives under water on her own and truly loves swimming. I can't thank her and the YMCA enough for their work, kindness and patience. Truly a special place for my family.
