No doubt the Y data has recognized my occasional visits to MFB - and for many good reasons.
Mainly, for me, is their running track; it's larger than the Hunting venue and, frankly, members respect those using it. What does help with the latter is the signage and its rules. They're appropriately placed and visible.
Though Hunting mostly maintains a beautifully clean and inviting facility, MFB has a much to be proud of, too.
Keep up the excellent work.
It's a beautiful facility and very creatively designed to provide access to members with any kind of physical limitations, or none at all.
Please bring back the rock climbing wall
I'm very satisfied with my recent membership which was recommended by my Mary Free Bed therapists. I'm taking the aquatic classes.
Friendly reception desk. Great instructors!
The pool
I love this YMCA. So clean with great equipment classes and amenities.
Great staff! Extremely clean facilities!
** Unlike the Downtown Y. Very dirty. Always an excuse
Very clean and liked the staff. The family changing rooms seemed WAY cleaner than the downtown GR YMCA.
When I went to cycling class on Sunday, the only bike left , had no computer.. this bike has been out for several weeks. Great class but now that things are getting more crowded, it be great to have all the bike’s working.
Thanks!
I have a bad back and it is easy for me to get around. I love the family pool because the water is warmer. I enjoy Angela as a teacher for water aerobics! She is excellent!
Love the track and pool. Excellent staff, and we’ve made a lot of friends there
Feel welcome and valued by employees, great quality instructors, very nice, clean facility, love the pool. I live only 3 min from Free bed off patterson
I love the track. It’s great for rainy days.
Wonderful facility, set up so my son can access in his sports wheelchair and play basketball. Staff are helpful and friendly.
The track is only 5 times around for a mile. This offers a great choice in inclement weather to walk or run.
It has a space to walk without need to worry about ice, cracks on the track, and the grandkids love that they can try different things. The pool is a favorite of the kids.
Keeping active during winter months.
Very clean facility, kind front desk staff that showed me to the locker room without being overbearing. I appreciated as well the climate within the facility, I witnessed a workout class while doing my workout, it was upbeat and accepting!
I enjoy the cardio and strength classes provided by Deb Kinney at Mary Freebed. That’s the main reason I keep my membership. If she were to leave I may consider another fitness center simply because you don’t offer as many classes during the morning as you once did in the past. Such as: Drumming-Yoga - Body step
P.S Please put the clocks back in the rooms at the Mary Freebed. Their absence has been driving the members crazy!
location, cleaninless and sanitation, Friendly Staff
Great staff, compassionate, professional.
The hours work great with my schedule. It’s very clean! The locker rooms and equipment are alway being cleaned and wiped down. There are many classes to chose from and the staff is always helpful and friendly.
I love the 8 lane pool and also the accessible design of the building.
The aqua arthritis and yoga classes are excellent. To have these specific ways to be able to exercise is invaluable. Everyone is nice and kind and helpful.
Great pool!
the universal design
Facility and staff
This is a great YMCA. Way better than Grand Rapids downtwon. Just wish the Sauna was bigger.
We have had a wonderful basketball season with Amber Robke coaching. My son was able to try out a new sport and learned some new skills while further developing other skills. Amber kept practices fun while giving them tools they needed to be successful during the games.

Easily accessible, my favorites are lap pool, track lap area and yoga classes
