The pool is an underutilized gem!
Convenient location
Easy & friendly service
Friendly and helpful people at the desk. Plenty of room to work out without overcrowding
I love the downtown Y! I’ve been a member for 27 years and enjoy all the members I’ve encountered. Some have become lifelong friends.
Great spot to work out downtown. Great people, good classes, and a convenient location, with the affordability of a Y!
The swimming pool. ( I’m a lap swimmer
Great experience. Great employees who make you feel comfortable.
They have the greatest friendliest most helpful staff of any Y!
Pool access
Convenient spot, great staff and facilities.
I've been a member of the downtown for 45 years and enjoy it very much.
The warm, caring environment. I have to say Downtown has the most amazing woman that cleans and keeps everything so tidy. She takes pride in what she does and we should all be extremely grateful.
The DT YMCA has the best staff in the association!
The downtown Y has been a central part of my life since 1954(7years old). For so many years, my day started with a good workout, a great steam, shower, laughs with friends . The Y got me ready for the day.
I love the downtown Y and SYAC. The pool is fantastic, but I seldom use the pool.
The rumors are thedowntown will close, which is a shame. Many cities have downtown YMCA's and I think Syracuse should keep this open. I probably wouldn't keep my membership if the downtwon Y closed.
I've previously suggested that perhaps the Y might want to try partial memberships to boost attendance. For instance, the Y could offer a M/W/F pass at a reduced rate. I see that Bryant and Stratton is using our facilities, which is good. Anything to boost membership.
Regarding Fayetteville's Y, I find the pool to be uninviting; it's always turbid and I have found some disgusting things floating in that pool. Overall I find that Y to be very crowded.
nice place to swim
SYAC
I LOVE the downtown Y and miss going there every week day. It's a truly inclusive,
accepting community where people from all walks of life, with a wide range of physical abilities, encourage and respect each other. I love the building, the facilities, the programs, the people.
Handball, swiming track
The Downtown Y has become an essential part of my life. I joined to swim year round after I could no longer participate in distance running (33 years!) i was very down about it, but thought I was a decent swimmer and hoped I could maintain my fitness through lap swims. Twelve years later, I’ve served the Y as a Masters coach, a swim instructor and a lifeguard! The Y not only gave me another career, but most importantly, a group of friends that inspire me, support me, swim with me, and laugh with me. It’s been an incredible journey that has changed my life for the better. I would be lost without the Downtown Y.
Friendly staff , close proximity to my home.
Great
Convenience to city resident
amazing variety of workout equipment and facilities as well as the programs. I use the pool, track, and SYAC sauna the most and your competitors usually don't have any of these.
The pool is awesome and the lifeguards are so awesome and the history is awesome and everyone is nice
Fitness classes and SYAC
Love the towels, water pressure in shower. Towels could be bigger.
It's always very cold in womens locker room. If it was a little warmer that would be nice.
