I enjoy what the YMCA provides for the community, because I'm so much more healthy and my body wasn't responding to what my doctor recommended, but the water therapy, sauna, and whirlpool got me back on track and I'm truly grateful. Thank you!
I like Hal Welsh East Area Family YMCA because of its support of Youth Development, Social Responsibility and Healthy Living. Hal Welsh has in particular had a big impact on supporting other non-profits in the Central New York community like: Saint Lucy’s; David’s Refuge; Clear Path for Veterans, and Meals on Wheels. Also in support of Veterans we hold a free Veterans breakfast on Veterans Day in conjunction with the Youth Leadership at Hal Welsh, which supports both Youth Development along with Social Responsibility of giving back to Veterans who have given so much for our country. Regarding Healthy Living we have a nutritionist on board at the YMCA and have held classes on prevention of Diabetes. We also support Seniors with our Active Older Adults Program, which provides events and classes for Seniors to socialize together and help in preventing isolation. Hal Welsh East Area Family YMCA is much more than just a gym- it provides a way for the community of CNY to come together and support one another. It’s all about community and giving back!
The facility is clean, the staff is pleasant, and the classes are fun
The East Area Y is the one I go to most often, though I also take writing classes through Writer's Voice at the Downtown Y. I just love the wealth of healthy variety that the Y offers to all ages, from work-outs to group exercise classes and even personal training. Then there are the arts, music and writing programs. Add to this childcare and senior programming. The Hal Welsh East Area Y, and the Y in general is an amazing community resource, and I am so grateful to be a part of it.
The classes are always in session. I wish senior classes were all early though. I love the chair yoga at 7:30 am.
