Well, now that you ask, I am not so sure what I like about them. I really do not have much to compare them to. Maybe I should look around a little and see what I can find. I'll get back to you some time.
I think you should seriously consider organizing a Singles Club- you could probably recruit single members to organize. I think it would greatly increase your appeal to the 30 plus folks who inhabit/work in this town and are still trying to find that special someone.in the few hours they have to spare.
Health, nutrition, fitness topics, potlucks, hikes, volunteer activities. You don't have to discriminate against non-singles to put on these events.
I like the atmosphere and the staff are always friendly.
IT is a very well run Y in general.
Bathroom cleanliness can be improved, mainly the showers area. But patrons also need to help.
diversity on classes, enthusiastic teachers and nice/kind staff
I like the facilities.
diversity of programs
everything I want to use is included in my membership
Love the Yoga classes , indoor swimming pool & Zumba ...
Good pools for swimming, enough lifeguards! Some are good about enforcing rules (diplomatically), but several too timid & pretend they don’t see an issue, looking away. Can you pls. train them a little better? Thank you! 😉
Also, why do lessons go on 12-1 PM Sundays (“adult individual swim”) in therapy pool?? I’ve talked to several bothered by this. It just makes pool that much more crowded/difficult to move around in.
Some have health issues/disabilities & is not easy to avoid bumping into kids, as they are unpredictable at times (by nature). A lesson w/ 1 teacher & 1-2 kids moving around quickly (and not in a straight line usually), is not a good idea to blend with “adult individual swim”.
I like the instructors and the welcoming environment.
Aqua-Zumba with Sue Skulina! Fantastic teacher with a wonderfully rhythmic, athletic, constantly updated program. You need more like her!
All the les mikes exercise classes and all the kids clubs programs! The staff as this location are the best!
Great Zumba teachers, Wed and Fri mornings.
Convenient location - around the corner from my house.
Nice spa
Could use more badminton courts on Sun evenings
I only attended gym.
Warm and clean swimming place! Love it!
friendly and helpfully.
Open flexible long hours and open on holidays.
Local location, friendly staff and availability of stations to work out are important to me and the Ross Road YMCA has all these things. I am starting again after a long break and I only use the treadmill at this point. I hope to use other facilities once I get going in a few weeks.
Lots of group classes at convenient tmes with great instructors.
I do have several suggestions about your activities:
l. The lap pool is too cold. It will be great if it's 2-3 degrees higher. My husband and several of my friends feel the same way. Also, the temperature is uneven from one side of the pool to the other end. I was swimming in the pool the other day and towards the lifeguard side about 10 feet the water turned really cold, I got a cold afterwards and am still recuperating.
2. I know you probably will suggest for me to use the warm pool. It is too small and not designed for lap swim. There are often too crowded too.
3. Since you upgrade the cross trainer machines, I can only use 11, 12, and 13. And I also noticed there are people waiting for them. The new machines has an angle and it's like walking on high heels, very uncomfortable. Can you do something about that?
Everything! I love the friendliness of the staff and the members, the variety and quality of the classes and the circuit machines and treadmills.
My teacher, Annette Couch Baker is caring and knowledgeable.
Classes and Gym.
I’m happy that ballet was added back in the schedule for kids. I wish gymnastics was brought back too, there used to offer gymnastics for kids about 4 years ago and one day the class was no longer offer :(
I just use the Fitness Center which has an impressive array of machines to help keep us fit.
Early morning classes
A/. The YMCA Staffs are dedicated and kind, the services (towels, coffee...) are very good
B/. Good Instructors & good programs such as :
Ms. Anne C (yoga classes), Ms. Ella (Toning/Cardio classes), Mss. Christine and
Nicole (U Jam classes in E. Palo Alto)
C/ Therefore , even though I just joined the YMCA Family, I am very impressed .
Thank you very much the YMCA Of Palo Alto , East Palo Alto and Mountain View.
Everything is good
The treadmill/bicycle area is where I usually work out and I seldom have to wait to use the machines. I have not tried an exercise class yet.

We like the openness of the weight room, the # of choices for machines & especially the oval circuit of 14 machines.
