Inclusiveness
Pools are clean and there are many enjoyable classes. I wish the warm pool was open more hours. Senior exercise is a great class and the instructor is terrific. I use the egym when I can and find it very helpful for spot training
I love everyone at Palo Alto Y. They have all done things special things for me. I'm homeless and they have gone over and above for me. I have referred 3 families but they had San Mateo county MediCal so they couldn't stay a member.
My special love goes out to Delisio, V, Nate, Heather, Teddy, Jasmine actually I love them all.
I love the selection of classes for seniors, particularly Senior Fitness, Aqua Fitness, Stretch and Balance, and especially Zumba Gold.
The classes are useful and meet my needs.
The swimming lessons are super effective and my kids love them
fun exercise classes
Classes
I use the weight rooms, which have lots of machines and free weights to meet all my training needs. But I also love walking past the large gym and seeing people in a morning fitness class, or playing pickle ball or badminton, or in the midday playing pick-up basketball. On Sundays I get to see the cute kids running down the hallway in their swimsuits excited to go to their swim class with Mom or Dad. I love that their are all kinds of activities, all ages, and all degrees of fitness gather at the Y to have healthy fun.
friendly and helpful staff. good equipment. what I DONT like is members in the workout room who sit on the equipment blocking use by others and read/text on their cellphones!!
Excellent equipment, helpful, knowledgeable, friendly staff.
Good variety of programs and classes for the whole family.
I like the variety as well as the large exercise rooms.
Good variety of group exercises, all welcoming and inclusive.
I am a USAF Disabled Veteran with Cody my Service Dog. We joined the YMCA to pursue mostly aqua-fitness therapy due to my spinal and knee issues. These conditions create chronic pain for me. The facility is equipped with a lap pool, aqua-fitness pool and a jacuzzi. The jacuzzi in particular assists me with chronic and severe flare-ups.
The only issue I have with the YMCA is that I feel ostracized and discriminated against because of Cody. I was told we have to utilize a gender neutral bathroom to change clothes and Cody is NOT allowed on the pool deck. By ADA regulations and laws, this should not be the case. Both I and my service dog have the right to utilize every inch of the facility without being discriminated against, except for immersion, of Cody, into the pool. Which I completely understand for health reasons. But, children with dirty diapers, should nonetheless be restricted as well.
I use the gym, stretch room and pool and find the facilities clean, fairly up to date and comfortable.
Healthy and fun with lots of encoouragement
They are well run, safe and helpful
I haven't started yet to socialize to music but will be starting soon as I can clearly see there's lots of good and positive vibes here at the YMCA.
