The only program I participate in is the Parkinson's exercise class. I like it because the instructor is warm, supportive, and keeps things moving--enough to give you a real workout. There are also two brief breaks in the class which allow for a chance to meet other participants. The class feels like a small community.
I like your classes, the e-gym, and the pool.
The variety of classes and the hours available. Friendly, helpful staff. Clean facility and ability to use any "Y"
Good gym equipment. I don't do any of the programs.
The best community based place into overall wellness for all ages!
1 best aquatic facilities in the SC network.
2. of these, the warm water rec pool is essential.
I am 75, somewhat athletic and an ardent pickleball player. Everyone my age deals with maintenance and body repair issues — arthritis, joint replacements, potential depression/isolation, and often a sudden, terrifying medical dx. Every physical procedure I’ve had — knee replacements, cataract surgery, etc. — requires mind-bending and often soul-destroying patience, I.e., isolation and depression. The rec pool in particular is how I make it back to the court and competitive play as well as dealing with chronic arthritis pain and pain-related insomnia — an evening swim, lap swim to build up endurance, deep water and rec pool aerobics to build strength. At the PA Y, in the pool and on the pb court, I find those essential role models for smart aging. In the first two years I moved here and started playing pickleball regularly, I reversed osteopenia. This almost NEVER happens. (I had triple check the DEXA scan results.) During the 3 1/3 years I’ve been here, I’ve undergone the usual olde personne body fixes and had one shocking and scaring medical dx (fine now). My fallback, always, was the aquatic complex and the pickleball court. (I started pb at PA.). Part of the reassurance is having a full range of classes — trx, yoga, Les Mills, etc. for the road forward and a network of clubs. For seniors and particularly senior women. this range of options equates with survival. Special shout-out to Chris, Simon and your lifeguards, to Carol and Heather. I see and appreciate the new stability brought about by Laura, new exec director, the clarity and communication skills of Chris, head of the aquatic facility. Your front desk Guy w Beard once said a kind word when I was straggling in, just beat down from weeks of recovery from {}#*!
cataract surgeries: I couldn’t swim, but I could walk the water. It made my day. Now I’m 100%.

喜欢
Attended due to parking lot issues at El Camino. Leader recognized as a new attendees and welcomed us to provide coaching. Others greeted us and made us fill welcome. Enough chairs for everyone was appreciated.
We love the swimming lessons for our toddlers. The instructors are the absolute best with our kiddos fostering water confidence and making the lessons fun and playful.
We also like the senior fitness and the parkinsons group exercise classes. My mother-in-law attended these while she was living with us and was in love with the sequence of funcional exercises the instructors taught her. She was unable to walk when she first arrived to live with us and those classes helped her gain balance and confidence to do many ADL's independently, such as bathing, cooking and walking again.
