PAFY is 1 of the best YMCAs I ever found.
It is doing great for all ages and the community. Keep going!!
Lap pool
I like the group classes and appreciate the efforts you are making to add more (obviously long way to go to pre-covid levels). Also grateful for the extra body pump equipment and the new mats!
Overall I am very satisfied with the Family YMCA here at Palo Alto that I frequent. But I notice there just isn't enough information/manuals about the machines such as the Treadmill. Meaning the different features available and how to connect your own electronics to it etc.
I wonder if this sort of information about the equipment and features + and user manual could be maintained in the SCV YMCA website ... I am willing to volunteer some time to identify the machines and available manuals in the Family YMCA. It may also be that the manufacturer Life Fitness is willing to loan someone to help with this task.
Swim lessons are going great!

Organized and very efficient.
Great staff.
Swim lessons at Palo Alto family YMCA are well structured. Great teachers!
I like the variety of activities and that the YMCA offers programs to people of all ages.
It is walking distance from my house.
You have lots of group classes, both in terms of variety and numbers of classes, covering every or at least most age groups.
Friendly, accessible, varied
Pool facilities are the best, including water aerobics instructors. I like how you extended the warm water pool hours and should keep them all day if possible. I understand the shortage of lifeguards, but a HUGE part of your constituency is seniors, and we need that warm water pool for pain.zRange of classes and daycare facilities are also first rate -- except clarify kids club limits in LARGE PRINT. People shouldn't hav to compete for space for their kids. El Camino Y has no such system. Pickleball is also first-rate, except you should add a Friday slot. Area for most obvious improvement: Your staff and head of the gym/etc. is basketball oriented. Despite repeated requests, your staff does not set up the pb nets in advance. They tell players, they are "too busy." At El Camino, we've encountered similar issues among different interest groups for that court space, but the nets are set up on time, without resentment or foot dragging. PB, I may point out, accounted for the largest amount for the annual fundraiser by far. Little things, like staff resentment of pb, lack of clarity about overlap times, lack of neutral leadership in mediating different interests, unwillingness too provide balls -- Franklin orange -- little details create loss of good faith from your members. zThis is potentially a huge plus for your club, not a minus, particularly since it's near Mitchell Park and good for warmup, conditioning and pain relief. A shame not to build on those zopportunities. Should things improve by next year, I will personally try to insure that your PB members are activated re donations. Otherwise, first rate, a life saver, your club.z
I only do the water aerobics activities at the Y but I am very happy with the classes. Especially with Corinna on Thursdays and Fridays.
Lots of variety- something for everyone.

Swimming, Jacuzzi, Steam Room, Basketball Court.
The classes are great. Sometimes the cleanliness is sketchy especially outside men's locker room. Other than that the staff are always helpful and friendly. Very convenient group class schedules and teen program.

Great dance classes, great facilities! Love it!
(Though I go to two other local Y’s, also. All are super!)
