This is a great program. The kids are nice. The coaches are great and my child enjoys every moment of it.
well organized, easy to sign up, and the kids had a blast.
Coach MJ and Coach Jamey were great! Patient but also structured. Can’t wait to sign up for fall soccer with them!
Perfect environment for kids just learning how to play team sports. The coaches were enthusiastic and my kids really enjoyed participating. We will be signing them up again in the fall!
It was competitive but had an easy level of commitment with just one day a week.
I wish the rules were more consistently applied during games by the referees. Moving the basketball hoops up should always happen for volleyball. Only 1 location did, but it makes a difference. Did not love a full tournament day on Mother’s Day. That’s poorly planned.
The price, and the casual, fun atmosphere
I like the atmosphere that your programs create with the family and the youth.
Well organized, collegial, low pressure
Friendly staff and always in great spirits. I love the Midlothian Y.
I like the variety in offerings and affordability
Great staff! My child had a blast
Fantastic coaching, particularly for swim team/clinic.
Loved the same day practice/game. Kept weekends open and was great intro for my 5 year old.
The Y sports are great.
Some feedback:
-Tell the coaches to send a snack signup sheet in advance of the first game. Then everyone is at home and can look at calendars and it’s all settled before the first one.
-I also recommend there is a social element— have them introduce themselves, their school, etc., so the kids get to know each other. It would be also be great if there was an extracurricular, optional meetup at the end, like getting ice cream (everyone pays for themself)
-One request: Please try matching some similar-school kids together. We attend a school without a lot of kids at the Y, but they exist. We’ve just never been on the same team and it makes it hard to get to know kids at our school. I also noticed a team with just one girl and all boys. It just doesn’t seem very balanced.
Finally, shoutout to Coach John Ward. We had him once in the past, but I see him every season, coaching multiple teams and kids. He deserves recognition and compensation!
Also, shoutout to Caleb, who we also see all over the Y, contributing.
We had a great experience with the YMCA Midlothian. The communication has been excellent—any time there were schedule changes or updates, they made sure families were informed right away, which made things less stressful.
Most importantly, my kids absolutely love playing sports through the program. The environment is positive, encouraging, and focused on helping kids learn while having fun. It has been a really happy experience and we would definitely recommend the YMCA to other families.
Affordable and low stress- a great way to learn a sport!
Good team sport program which you had another season for basketball
Low key and emphasis on sportsmanship
My daughter loved playing with her team. The volunteer coaches were great and the staff was great
Love the variety of workout classes. Great teachers.
Swim
Great coach and community
My son participated in Cross Country for the first time this fall and it was our first experience with YMCA sports. Mallori and Kyle were absolutely wonderful! Mallori was always available to answer questions, so friendly and welcoming! Kyle is a gem and so inspiring to my 8yr old. Thank you for a great first experience and we look forward to the spring season!
The sports program seems to be one of the most organized programs at the Y. The communication is always on point and responsive. The only thing I’d change is adding some earlier activities like Ninja or a Running group at 4:45/5 for the elementary kids. They get out of school then.
Amazing staff, great summer camp activities. Both my children loved being in ninja camp and swimming groups lesson.
Very clean facility.
I like the evening hours and I liked them getting an hour of ninja warrior time. The coaches were fun and caring.
YMCA programs and activities feel approachable. It’s a great opportunity for my family to try new things.
The soccer program is a friendly league that is good for starting players to learn and have fun with other new or veteran soccer players. It has taught my daughter much and she made some new friends along the way.
Family friendly, healthy lifestyle, great youth coaches.

Everyone is friendly and welcoming.
