Very happy with the help I got choosing a new bike (and shoes). I had a lot of questions, and wasn't even sure what I was looking for, but Noah helped me narrow down the options and find the right bike for me. I've been biking around the Twin Cities for decades, but I sometimes feel out of place in bike stores. Not the case at all at Freewheel. I felt right at home and will happily return for any future cycling needs.

My situation was a bit out of the ordinary. I live in Up State New York (near Syracuse), and I wanted to purchase a bike for my granddaughter, who lives in Berkeley, California and just started the 1st year at Macalester today. I started my research in March when I contacted an old friend and biking enthusiast who lives in Saint Paul. He referred me to Freewheel Bike Grand. I spoke with a staff person by the name of Kay, and she gave me terrific advice. After gathering information on options, I went out to CA and discussed options with my granddaughter and took her to a bike shop in Berkeley that specializes in Trek bikes. I placed the order on June 15 with Aaron Ehlers, and he did a terrific job. In subsequent calls to Freewheel Bike Grand I talked with several employees about possible additional purchases for the bike, but ended up deciding my granddaughter could make those decisions on site once in Saint Paul. I called a few days ago and was fortunate to speak with Aaron again. He remembered me and my special situation and was most helpful. He promised to have the bike and paid for equipment ready for delivery when my granddaughter called for delivery. Aaron told me about the benefits of the Freewheel Fanatics Club membership, and I bought one. I spoke with my granddaughter yesterday, and she had spoken with Aaron to arrange delivery after she settles in at college. Great service! Thank you.

We wanted to gift my custom carbon bike to my son and his girlfriend, but we live fifteen hours away, and it was going to be a bit before we could get up there to personally deliver it. Thankfully, we were able to have it packaged and shipped to Freewheel where it would be reassembled and safety checked for riding. Aaron was awesome! He explained the process and put my mind at ease! The bike arrived at Freewheel on Wednesday morning and by 4 pm, it was reassembled. He even had the shop call my son to surprise him! My son picked it up and then surprised his girlfriend with the bike. All in all, Freewheel was friendly, efficient, and helped this mom carry out an awesome surprise!

It's been less than a week since I picked up my custom-built gravel bike, and I've already recommended this Freewheel shop to my cycling network, so yes, I think this is a first-class bike shop!
I did a lot of prep work with Aaron who helped guide me through the amazingly technical and complex jargon and choices, ending up with a lovely gravel bike of my dreams (or at least, within my budget). I never felt pressured, let alone looked down upon for my lack of knowledge, yet at the same time Aaron would provide his opinions and what has worked for him as a long-distance bikepacker. To top it off, Aaron went above-and-beyond to help get everything I wanted to fit and be readily accessible in a tight cockpit with well thought out designs and tricks.
Even though I'm on the other side of the Twin Cities I know that I'll be back to take advantage of the skill of Aaron and his staff.
