The room is clean and spacious. The staff a helpful.
Location is great but I find the space to be not as special as the Kits or Sea studios.
The size of the room is great, no judgement atmosphere, all level classes
The instructors while quite varied in their styles are excellent
The studio is beautifully bright and airy although I would prefer a solid floor to the carpeting
Have a studio closer to me, i.e. downtown or North Vancouver.
Inclusive vibe!
Everything, I love Semperviva!!!!
Calming environment great staff and clean studio.
The staff are friendly and helpful, and the very day I joined one of the managers took her time explaining the differences and her personal preference between the yoga mats offered at the Kits Beach store (I need a new one!)
The teachers are joyful and encouraging, and their classes are diverse even when practicing the same style of yoga. Clara and Jayme in particular have led fast-paced, challenging Vinyasa sequences focused on alignment and pushing yourself without feeling the need to get competitive. Variations are always offered. I felt fantastic leaving the studio after their classes!
Moreover, Semperviva seems to attract a customer base who share my values when it comes to yoga, which is to say, fitness is great, but “working out” isn’t the primary objective of your practice. I did not feel judged or pushed by my fellow yogis, and I truly got the impression that others attending were focused on their individual practices. This is a critical component of a positive yoga environment for me, because if I feel like everyone is looking to each other, it is impossible to focus on oneself.
I look forward to returning to the mat later today!
Quality of instruction
Lots of locations and lots of different styles of classes
The welcoming "hello."
Foster a more connected community with existing teachers so they feel listened to and don't want to leave.
Everything!
I love the early morning classes. I really like the challenging yoga poses, some teachers are fun and engaging, and others, which I also love, are introspective and wise and give great yoga teachings to focus on. studio has large windows at the back, which bring in light but shield from spectators. i also like the retail area in the foyer, makes the whole studio feel more spacious.
Staff are friendly and helpful, clean and spacious studio and knowledgeable instructors.
Friendly, no fuss, clean, delicious tea.
I love the teachers - their uniqueness
I like that each class is different, even led the same instructor
I like the vibe among the members
I like the proximity of the locations to my home
The environment and the instructor
Love it!
There is always a positive energy in the studio space that is very welcoming and supportive. Everyone is so kind and helpful which makes my practice stronger and very peaceful.
Amazing teachers; friendly staff; lots of classes; power/flow classes
Make my rating a 7 (I do not seem to be able to go back and edit it).
Air quality needs improvement; often the air is stale (smells of body sweat particularly KB, the bugs that this harbours will be significant) - not conducive to an optimal experience for me.
The spaces are not quite right (sterile in an esthetic sense). Larger studios with better natural lighting (more sky lights) and ventilation are needed with capacity to open to larger or contract to smaller space as numbers dictate. There needs to be at least 12-18 inches between mats otherwise participants are concerned about hitting each other. This is not optimal for mindfulness or expanding/elongating your body which we are typically required to do.
The decor of the studios needs improvement; more character consistent with optimal yoga experience (even simple things - things that are wood, add plants, nicer but subdued lighting).
Check out Moksana yoga in Victoria. Granted it’s smaller and more intimate but it gets these basic qualities right. It never smells.
Perhaps it is because I am philosophically opposed to roll over billing, but I find the billing rather confusing despite having it explained several times. Better to have a system of check in linked to your personal plan (like a bus pass) so you know exactly if you have run out of classes.
Finally, few of the instructors use their voices as effectively as they could to induce more mindfulness and body-mind integration. Two notable exceptions are Tianne and Randy (there are a couple of others but cannot recall their names off hand). I sometimes feel like I am in a high energy yoga class (inappropriate voice quality and music selection).. I run, go the gym and exercise classes for these experiences. I go to yoga classes for Hatha and mind body integration; most often the emphasis is on the physical side of yoga. This is not what yoga is really about when you either go to India or read Aruveda traditional healing practices.
I hope these comments are helpful to you in improving g the yoga experience at Semperviva in the interest of making it top rated.
Location, number of class options, good quality instructors
The experienced staff and courteous service. Clean and well-maintained premises is also an attractive feature.
Consistency
The staff people are kind and friendly.
Love the atmosphere at Sea Studio. Really enjoyed the teachers as well.
The room smelled of sweat and the instructor for the Sunday morning yin class talked way too much. Left for very few moments for the body and mind to connect quietly. No postures were corrected: an assumption everyone knew what they're doing.

Kindness of people, how everything is clear and accessible.
