The Y is a great place for sport-like activities, and is great for social mingling. However the town needs to forget the beach for a few years and spend some capital$ on the terrible strength equipment in the workout area. The Technogym strength equipment is old, not ergonomic (never was), worn out, and is constantly in need of repairs, and in some cases a little unsafe. We are told parts are imported from Italy, and most of the equipment has never been fully repaired. Some of the strength equipment was removed from service and taken to recycling during the COVID period. This was never replaced.
The YMCA ( Young Men's Christian Association) has lost it's identity and become the OMCA, (Old Men's Christian Association) in Goderich. This needs to change by providing equipment to attract all genders and ages..
It's great that the strength training area has increased in size, but let's supply some safe ergonomic equipment now... (e.g. For many years I have to tighten the bolts on the e-z curl bar before use). An Allen key has now been supplied instead of replacing the bar. How ridiculous is that.
Lastly, it's hard to believe there is not a company in Ontario that can fix and maintain the HVAC system. Unbelievable series of unfortunate events for the last 15 years... Ongoing today..
Despite all the challenges, I will continue to support the Goderich YMCA..

Lots of classes that are open to all members and open lane swim. The fitness area is well equipped and clean. Only fault is Kids running around and on and off equipment at times unsupervised by their parents.

Live the classes I attend. Times are great for my schedule. A few more night classes offered would be excellent addition.
The Programs at the YMCA are a lot of fun and also very entertaining. I enjoy doing the programs and it's great to be with other people again.
I use the upstairs exercise room, track, and swimming pool. Not involved in any programs or activities.
A wonderful variety of activities for the entire family. Instructors are professional, friendly and helpful.

Staff are friendly and helpful. Mostly good hours, swim on the weekend needs to be available. Workout classes at 6am would also be nice.

Since the reopening the logistics of operating the facility seems to be much improved. The staff has always been great but they seem to be more motivated. They seem to have more attention to detail.

It's a great opportunity to socialize with people in our community, along with keeping fit.
The Goderich YMCA generously let us use the Memorial Arena for our IODE fundraiser. It was the perfect location for us to distribute our geranium orders. The staff was a delight to work with. Many thanks.
