The downriver YMCA is consistently clean, well staffed and well-maintained. It makes my exercise routine easier to do. I am also impressed with all the other family, youth and community activities that are held at the downriver YMCA. I think it’s an excellent community resource.

My spouse and I have been looking to join a local gym and recently decided to visit the Downriver Family YMCA. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by Sheryl, who was kind, patient, and incredibly helpful as she gave us a tour and explained our membership options. She took the time to confirm our preferred names and pronouns, and reassured us that the YMCA is a safe and affirming space. When we returned for our first workout, she even greeted us by name.
In a time when it is more important than ever for LGBTQ+ people to have spaces that affirm our identities and protect marginalized communities, the Downriver Family YMCA stands out as a place of genuine care and inclusion. I am deeply grateful to know this is a community we can be part of.

Pool is fun and you can usually get a lane or share one if you want. I like doing laps.
Close to home a lot of equipment
Very versatile - everything from weights to pool to basketball. It has something for everyone.
I enjoy the exercise I get in the water, but the friends and support they give to me and each other is what I really love about the Downriver Famuly YMCA.

Everyone is friendly, helpful and invested in making the "Y" the best. The classes are inclusive and my water aerobics teacher is encouraging and informative.

I enjoy the strength training classes. Mallissa and Sierra are great instructors. As well as Nancy for the Water classes. People who attend classes with me are friendly and all striving for healthier lifestyles.

Lots of machines to work out on.
Facility is kept clean.
Bottles of cleaner and paper towels to wipe down machines. (FYI - Bottles have been empty or close to empty the last couple of weeks. Plus people are not returning them to where they belong - have to go searching for them.)
You promote a very family friendly environment. I always feel comfortable while there and would recommend spending time there with all those I know. Keep up the good work. Thanks
