A little bet of everything!
My children, now adults learned how to swim at a very young age…. Camping etc… A lot of good happy memories ! We still enjoy a variety of exercises etc…
I attend chair yoga and active senior exercise classes at Birmingham YMCA. EXCELLENT classes: EXCELLENT instructors. My one beef- PARKING: need more handicap spaces and snigger lot for members!
The pool and water aerobics are my go to exercise.
They have a wide variety of programs. Their Ties & Thursday Silver Sneakers is the best. Friendly, welcoming - basically a community center!

The exercise room
I LOVE the Birmingham Y, and have been a member for many years. The staff is great, lots of group exercise options, and the personal trainers are fantastic.

Yoga classes
What I love most about the Birmingham YMCA is the people. I am part of the Tuesday/Thursday Aerobic Swimming class. We have a great time & are keeping our bodies strong & working. Average age of our class members/friends is 60 -80+. I have had multiple back surgeries & a Beck surgery in the past 10-15 years & am convinced that the aerobic swim & the socialization has helped me to keep moving well & emotionally stronger. The thought of this activity "going away" is startling & disappointing. The only thing I would correct is to have correspondence between the Aquatic Mgr. & the swimmers be more direct& we NOT NEED to go on an app to find if there is a change or cancelation in the swim schedule. We are not "internet dependant" for our interaction with others. A single, group email alert from the Mgr. on closings of the pool or schedule changes should not depend on our having to go to the Y app. I consistently recommend the Birmingham YMCA to friends encouraging them to join & improve their physical & mental health.

Friendly staff
The pool, I don’t swim but exercising in the water helps my hips and knees. Everyone is very pleasant and friendly so being there is very calming experience.

I take the Chair Yoga and Active Older Adults. The instructors are great, Really enjoying the classes, the instructors and all the friends I met at the Y.
