Always make sure the kids stay active and have something to do while at the ymca.
I was a member years ago when I lived in Salem and have missed it when away. I’m happy to be able to be a member again even if for a month. It’s a great place for the family to spend time together exercising.
The facility meets my needs, has a robust offering of programs and is fairly well maintained given the buildings age. I am favor this location because of the effort that goes into engaging the diverse community that is Salem.

Great staff, location and clean facility. We're very excited to be new members of the Y in downtown Salem. There appears to be a nice culture of folks invested in their health without the feeling that you're at a meat-factory. We're looking forward to the updated locker-room.
Inexpensive and great facilities along with friendly welcoming staff
The variety and quantity of activities is amazing. I’ve stuck entirely to the Salem facility in this phase of my membership, and have not felt deprived in the least. I especially enjoyed the recent series of tap dancing classes!
Good people, clean locker rooms, clean building. I could walk to another Y but I come to Salem because it is clean and the staff is always there tvo help

it kinda stinks that for the men, the steam, sauna and locker room are down for '6-8 weeks.' it was manageable with just the steam down. you should have paused there. but, then you took away the sauna too and the lockers. seems a bit much to do it all at once. I guess, maybe, that was the only option, but it would have been nice if it was staggered. do one at a time. I hope the 6-8 week estimate is true because its already been at least 4 weeks for the steam. i also realize I can suspend my membership indefinitely. Please keep us posted on the changes. if it goes beyond 8 weeks i may want to make a decision to suspend. but if the 6-8 weeks is a true estimate I can hold out. It would be nice to see an email notification about this to keep us posted. If after 8 weeks you tell me we need another 6-8 weeks well that would really stink because then a month ago i might have decided to suspend if I knew it might last more than 10 weeks. as you know the steam room is 50% of why i am a member. and i know some of the senior members that have been going there 30-40 years love and plan their day around the steam. its a great thing that you are upgrading and maintaining the steam. That is more important than any 6-8 week delay. So, in the end I am very happy to hear the steam is getting fixed, it would just have been nice to keep the sauna open when the steam is down but i guess you can't always have your cake and eat it too. thank you!

The places is one of the best for community and to meet new people, the Y has lead me to meet amazing people and lead me to new connections with my community.
I enjoy the classes and I live nearby so it is convenient. The YMCA staff is always friendly and professional and the faciities are kept clean.

The theater program has been absolutely incredible for our kids! They have been in shows for years and we are so happy with all of the staff throughout the various productions. The theater program offers interesting and exciting opportunities with fun and appropriate show choices. My kids have felt challenged and supported to achieve very high expectations. The productions are very high quality and the staff works so hard to create a safe and inclusive environment for all participants and where we as parents have felt comfortable and welcome to volunteer and take an active role in supporting our kids' passions. We are so grateful that programs like this are accessible to all families!

Great classes, especially chair yoga with Rebecca and water fitness with Gus. Other water classes don’t compare, not a good workout and too much talking
