Great customer service
Y is great!
The Y offers a myriad of classes at differing experience levels - it is almost impossible to NOT be able to find a class! The instructors and equipment is top notch, and if I cannot find a class to your liking at the Salem Y, I have access to all the North Shore YMCA's.
My single complaint about the Salem Y is the age and size of the facility. I do go to the Marblehead Y because of access to 3 pools, one of which is warm. And sometimes the instructors are better suited to my needs. Any possibility of upcoming improvements?
I walk to the Salem Y, but I have heard complaints about the lack of parking. If I choose to go to other facilities, I need to have use of a car, which I can create issues at times.
Love Pauline’s water exercise program
Very clean, people are nice
My health has always been my highest priority. Have belonged to different Y's over the years and Salem is my favorite. You have wonderful staff and facility
Great value…plus Gina G. Is awesome !
I've been going there for over 30 years. The programs and classes keep getting better and better with excellent instructors. I've met a lot of new friends at the Y.
Nice people
Members are friendly and welcoming.
Great classes in the Mind and Bidy studio like restorative yoga, sound baths, yoga journaling, and Yoga/Reiki classes.
People may talk about equipment, classes, trainers etc. offered, but I would like to comment on something else I have noticed: The Y is family. It is Salem family. You a see it in the diversity of people who use it of course, but in the friendliness and warmth of employees. I'm a pool person, and I see "family" as well in the friendships that have formed in the water aerobics and aqua zumba classes. People not only know one another's names, they care about them, ask about them, see them outside of the Y. I know for some, this is their primary social group, so these classes and the Y play a huge role in their lives. Personally, I have many networks, social groups, and "families," but I consider my Y connection one of the most important.
Great selection of classes. Great instructors. Great location.
My son loves his swim classes with Nancy. The kids club has also been amazing for our family.
Ms. Nancy is a great teacher and you can tell she really enjoys the kids and is passionate about what she does.
The Salem YMCA promotes community and recognizes the need for people to be healthy in mind, body, and spirit.
This sense of community and recognition of individuals with social, physical, and emotional needs is the reason I love Pauline's water aerobics classes. I have taken many different classes but Pauline's are the best! The people in the class support each other and the Salem community as a whole. You will find the class members asking about each other if there is an absent member, bringing food to each other, supporting festivals, the Samaritans events, and furthering the goals of the Y in many different ways.

I enjoy the physical and social aspects of the Y I’m trying to stay active and the Salem Y helps me do that I use the fitness room and go to classes.
Good mission, good people and very helpful
Getting kids to feel comfortable. Good technical skills and focus on both safety and fun.
The facilities and staff are top notch!
The YMCA at Bates Elementary school in Salem has been so great this year! My son doesn’t want to come home some days because he is having so much fun. They have made many improvements from last year that are really making an impact. Kids are getting outside to play a lot and there are a lot of well planned activities and crafts for them to do indoors after school.
Everyone is friendly and welcoming. The dressing room is clean. The classes are grand.
Lots of times available. Lessons are run pretty efficiently. Small class sizes. Miss Nancy is knowledgeable and great at helping kids build confidence in the water.
The WHES Y Afterschool program is phenomenal. The kids always want to stay later when I go to pick them up. They have so many choices for the kids and allow them to choose what they want to do. The staff could not be kinder or more helpful. Everything from sign up, to pick up, to any questions or issues, they are top notch. Thank you all for all you do!!
Fun times for our daughter!
All staff I’ve met have been great, and my grandson really enjoys his time at the program every day.
I love our swim instructor. Every session she makes
Sure she gives each child individual attention. She makes sure each child’s needs are being addressed. Ms Nancy always has a smile on her face and a welcoming warm environment. I honestly couldn’t ask for a better swim instructor for my son.
The swim classes have been everything my son has needed and the instructor is fantastic. After many trails and error this has been the only time we have had even a inclination of success. I would recommend 100%.
We used to take swim lessons at Goldfish but I like the swim lessons at the YMCA better! My water-timid son gets a lot more attention and actual swim time at the Y. Ms. Nancy has been a great teacher for my son.

Great offerings. Equipment is top of the line. Friendly staff.
