It is a great way to introduce children to the game of golf. Kids get out on the course and play golf with their friends. Teaches kids how to play socially and how to play competitively.
We've done at both Woburn Country Club and Patriot golf course.
@ Patriot we liked how kids were teamed together for the season - they built relationships and rapport with their teammate. There were 3 coaches to help at practice and set up station and kept the kids moving.
@ Woburn - we liked the timing of the matches better. starting between 3-4pm tee times (instead of starting after 5pm in summer and 4pm in fall, we were running out of daylight).
Fun way to learn about golf in a team-oriented setting.
The uniforms and instruction are top notch!
Great program for kids!
Awesome program. The right amount of instruction mixed with stress free competition. Would definitely do it again and suggest to friends.
Extra practice and matches that kids can participate in
Jim Falco did a great job (Blackswan CC in Georgetown, MA). The team/ scramble format makes it more fun for the kids with a team, rather than individual, spirit that helps the kids want to play. Can't wait for next year.
Great format. Low stress and great first experience with golf
Outdoor activity for our son to continue to build on in his enjoyment and learning of the game..also getting with other kids to socialize too....very important for him!
It’s a really encouraging, fun program that also teaches the kids golf etiquette.
Coach Sue Horton is outstanding!
I liked how the kids developed confidence and learned the rules of play. I personally enjoyed being able to watch them play, it was a lot of fun!
My son had a great experience being a part of the PGA Jr. League playing for Sandy Burr Country Club in Wayland, MA this year. It really helped foster his love for golf. He can't wait until next season! Charlie Estes did a fabulous job running the program.
Inclusivity
Well organized, friendly, great communication
I love how it gets the kids out on the course to learn and play golf. Our experience has been very supportive of the kids and while they compete it’s not that aggressive competitiveness that can sometimes happen in youth sports . It’s a great program!
It’s been a great opportunity for the younger golfers to learn all aspects of the game- not only play, but sportsmanship etiquette and respect.
Not to mention they get to play on some of the best golf courses around.
Excellent coaching! Lots of opportunities to play!
Great opportunity to learn golf in a team setting. The scoring format keeps each match competitive throughout. It's really a great way to learn the game.
Gives my son a great opportunity to play against other players his age and to receive some great coaching!
Well-organized program with friendly coaches and staff.
My son gets to play golf regularly with other children his age.
While the PGA Jr. League was different this year with our team only competing against ourselves, participation and interest was extremely high, and my child enjoyed playing against people he knew more so than that of other clubs.
Great Coach! Great Program!
The kids have a great time and learn all aspects of golf. Also Steve Caruso did a good job coaching the kids on what they did good and what they could do better.
I was so impressed by the PGA Jr. League that I'm jealous I wasted my time playing baseball as a kid, haha! Seriously though, the format of the competition is fantastic. The Scramble format and Flag-scoring system (once you figure it out) keeps all the players involved almost regardless of skill-level because hey, everyone can hit a good one now and then and that's what are partners are for anyway, right?! I got to watch my son's confidence in his golf game take such an incredible leap in just one summer of play. My only regret is that I didn't sign him up sooner. All the Coaches are great, and the fact that we got to play so many different courses just made for an amazing summer experience with my son. Thank you. - Andrew & Name removed
My son absolutely loved the PGA jr league!
Wonderful that the kids get out to actually play, and that they generally take charge of the match with parents watching/assisting only when needed.
Amazing facility and golf professionals. They do so much for the kids and teaching all year is fantastic. I literally have not a single negative thought about the course willow creek and the staff and professionals. Brian in particular has been a great influence on my son and loves to practice and play the course.
