The Sylvan program is not designed for kids with dyslexia. Spent a lot of money with little progress. Sylvan ' reading program worked for my other child.
You offer a variety of services to help different types of students. My experience with your Midland office has always been positive.
Both of my children seem to enjoy the classes and are learning. Whats not to like?

I have a meeting next Monday to find out how well my son is progressing. I may be able to rate Sylvan higher if I see the information about his progress. I know that it is hard to put a price on education and I am willing to pay what I can to help my son be successful but driving him an hour away and paying what it costs is a lot.

Our daughter increased her ACT score by only 3 points and she was devastated when she found out her score. She was trying to get to a 27 and is only at a 25 now as she applies for college. She felt that she could not speak out during tutoring sessions with other students and that the pace was too fast, but that she didn't feels safe in asking for clarification.
Students are encouraged to ask questions during our ACT seminars. It is up to them to take the initiative to do so. Those for whom the pace is too fast generally do individualized sessions. During this particular seminar, a second teacher was available to help. To achieve the maximum benefit from our program, a student must complete ALL components, including the online homework, as it is an essential part of our program. Those who choose not to take advantage of the online portion miss many opportunities for analyzing their errors, which is key to avoiding repeated mistakes.

One on one learning. Assessment explanations - knowing exactly where my child is at and where more attention is needed.
In my opinion, there could be more communication with the tutor and parent directly instead of waiting so long for an update from either Karen or Ryan. It is always good to have reinforcement from the parent to the child and that can't happen without more time with the tutor
I just prefer to not to pass judgement until Walter has been attending long enough to make a truly accurate appraisal of his gains.
Although it is too soon to assess growth this early in a student's program, we still like to get feedback on a family's initial experiences.

Just a little over 2 months ago our son would not do his math homework. Now he does. What changed in 2 months is Sylvan. He now has the confidence to do it so he does it. He is excited to go to Sylvan two times a week. I am thankful for Sylvan.

The complete staff all around.
It would nice if the tutor would give the parents an update of what they are doing. We don't always get great insight on that from our child. A report or even a quick hello and "tonight we covered ____ " response. I feel awkward going into the clarion to ask...like I'm interrupting.
I like the one on one tutoring. Sylvan cares about your child's education. I'm so happy I choose Sylven for my son.
