Member Testimonials
The YMCA's friendly relationships, the extra activities, the exercise classes offered and the cleanness of the facilities! I am very pleased with the overall staff and members kindness, politeness! Its family place to meet lifelong friends! I especially enjoy the warm feelings and greetings I receive when you walk through doors of YMCA!
The staff is the friendliest in the entire YMCA network in KC.
The place is clean. The staff is welcoming and helpful. The equipment is pretty well maintained. We've enjoyed taking Maddie's Tuesday-Thursday TRX class and my wife felt Monica was very helpful as a Personal Trainer and expects to sign up with her again.
I love coming up there for my water aerobics and I love all teachers and coaches they are wonderful I love coming to this YMCA cuz customer service is always friendly and nice I have a wonderful time I leave there feeling great and we energized
I feel like family and motivation on the go!!
It's been great, except for my initial encounter with the person who explained the use of the gym equipment (who apparently had never encountered someone who had never been in that environment before). I use the gym every day now, and plan on continuing.
Friendly, and knowledgeable staff. The Cleaver YMCA offers several weight stations increasing safety and muscle isolation. Both are key in developing the results you are looking for in a GYM.
The staff at the front desk is always courtesy very professional and always has a smile

I like Tai Chi classes, no crowds and a warm pool. Friendly staff too.
Friendly staff who make me feel comfortable and good overall environment. Close to home and they care about our community in tangible ways!
Welcoming atmosphere.
I love this YMCA
Non-judgemental space to work out, and I appreciate the work the Y does in the community.
I really like the people working there. Everyone is so great. I do wish the hours on the weekend were longer, though.
Keep up the Great work! 🙏🏽
It’s convenient, I love the yoga classes. The personnel are friendly and the Y is always clean. I like that all kinds of people use this Y and everyone seems to enjoy each other.
I love that its family oriented!
Friendly. Clean song
Great classes (spin and yoga with Jean), fitness equipment, and pool for lap swimming. I am there 3-4 days a week. Friendly staff, clean facility, too.
The group sessions and water fitness. Everyone is friendly. Great atmosphere.

I am a 71 year young woman who chose to join the Y primarily to swim laps with a kickboard to strengthen my legs. Because I have 2 replaced knees, one of which resulted in some nerve damage. So I am also a fall risk. Recently the kickboards were to the farthest end of the pool. I asked Barb to make an accommodation. I could not tell if she was blowing me off but eventually she offered to leave some kickboards on a table closer by. This idea sounded ok but it was not sustainable. Other staff likely moved them back to where they "belonged" as they finished each day. Earlier this month I had to walk the length of the pool to retrieve a kickboard and on the way back I fell; a full on face splat on a rough concrete deck.
To note, the staff who came to my aid were great; kind and caring and very efficient with the 1st aide. I was pretty beat up facewise so I didn't come for several weeks and during that time I figured out that I needed to accommodate myself by purchasing my own kickboard.
My disability is not readily apparent. And it is hard for me to ask for help. I am pretty sure that there are many people around my age who are in the same boat; a bit in denial about their increasing loss of abilities.
But honestly, all my other experiences have been great. The front desk people are super friendly and helpful. Several staff members have stopped me to ask how I was doing since my fall. I now come in on a cane to assure my safety when I am on the pool deck. I want this Y to be for everyone; even prideful ones like me.
