The Y is a place that just feels welcoming.
Also, the history of the Y is one of inclusion, brotherhood, and sisterhood. For example, the Y was involved in helping Jewish artists, writers, and academics escape Paris after Hitler invaded. Their lives were saved! An American, Varian Fry, headed the committee to get these threatened people out France.
Pilates class, rowing machine. People are friendly.
Members are great, as is pool. Staff are friendly. Steam room often is broken, sauna less often but breaks down periodically. Aerobic classes good but could use more.
We live in Meadowmont and it’s convenient for us to take the grandkids to the outdoor pool during the summer.

Great Experience! Aubrey and the entire staff makes the YMCA an enjoyable experience for people of all ages.
Good facility
Very friendly staff, good equipment and hours. And best of all, unlike the Durham or Cary YMCAs, they do not play loud music. Some of the Raleigh YMCAs are also good in this regard.

We love the sloped entry to the kid pool for both our kindergartner and toddler. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming yet the lifeguards are vigilant.

The Y is close to my home and I especially like the renovated weight room and new spin cycles. The friendliness of the front desk personnel is so nice!
Positive community values. Good facility. The only downside is that there are several broken aerobic exercise machines that need to be fixed.

I love the staff and the variety of classes. My happy and healthy place. Special kudos to Gwyn, Joan, Andrea, Sarah and Teresa at the front desk. And the outdoor pool water aerobics makes summer a fun time for me!
I appreciate that I’m not just a member when I walk into the Y. I’m part of a community where the staff know my name, my kids, and are invested in my wellness.

Love the early morning classes at 6 am!!
The teachers and variety in classes. I wish there were more early morning class offerings on Monday and Wednesday. (At 6-8 time frame). I don’t care for spin. And I would like to work out every morning. So at the moment I have to work out at home.
Joined the Chapel Hill/Carrboro Y just over a month ago. Every staff member has been extremely friendly and helpful in getting me acclimated. Equipment is fairly new and I have not had trouble fighting over equipment. Overall great experience!
