Sylvia’s Friday morning total body fit class!
Everything! I tell everyone what an all inclusive facility it is. Wonderful staff, instructors and members 😊
Everyone is so helpful. Ionela and First name removed really enjoy it. Thank you for all you do.
I have been very happy with the Y except one day this week there was no lifeguard for the shallow pool at 7:15 am shallow water aerobics with no advanced notification to the class and the instructor (Kati). The class had to sit around the pool for about 15 minutes before the instructor was able to make arrangement to do the shallow water aerobics on one lane at the deep water six lane pool.
This does not happen often but it is annoying when you wake up early to get to your exercise and had to wait for 15 minutes especially for us oldies.
Enjoy the classes and the pool at the YMCA!
I love the Y. I've been a member continuously since 1974.
Nothing is perfect, but the Y always strives to solve problems. I carry a lot of baggage in my head, and a little bit of maturity has helped somewhat. But I am still bothered by some things. Here are a couple of pet peeves I have with the NIR Y:
1. People talking on cell phones, texting, or other cell phone use, in the locker rooms. Ok, sure -- you have a rule written in one or two places. But it is not prominent, and nobody N O B O D Y from the Y ever reminds people to put their phones away in the locker room. Please don't say "but we don't ever see it". I can walk in the locker room with you any time of day and find three phones minimum out and in use.
2. The same phone use in the weight room and sitting on machines applies. Sure, there is a tiny 8"by10" rectangle notice prohibiting phone use. And in the ignored list of rules. But there are weight room attendants. Could they possibly urge patrons to put their phones away, and remind people of the rules? Or maybe a small notice sticker placed on strategic machines?
3. In the pool area, RULE #1 says shower before entering pool. (More precisely, "Showers are required".) Nobody is showering (except me, and two other people per day). And nobody in authority ever says anything! The rule is compliant with NC State Law from the NC Health Department -- but if you aren't enforcing it, having the rule and ignoring enforcement seems to encourage rule-breaking.
Friendly staff an dgreat facilities! It is a tremendous community resource.
Like the classes & price.
Clean

I enjoy zumba classes and barre fitness and yoga classes. Its clean and people are friendly.
I am waiting for hot tub to open again.
The people, the location, the y working with seniors and Medicare/insurances,
The quality of products and trainers and classes are awesome,
Everyone who works there are so helpful and very friendly. Love the classes that I take.
Well trained instructors .
Friendly and helpful staff .
I love the Y. There’s a great variety of classes and good instructors, good amenities, and it’s a reasonable price.
Never thought I'd enjoy water aerobics, but the classes at the Y are great!! The gym equipment too, and the staff members are very friendly
Like all the classes offered and expert help from the teachers or leaders
Great facility!! Great staff!
Nice people, convenient and clean.
Great service and all difference activities offered.
Very clean, modern facility (not the stereotypical Y), more like a private upscale gym). Well-run, friendly staff.
We have great classes in the mid morning which I love. The teachers are super qualified and helpful and fun.
The staff is so professional, knowledgeable and friendly. I am a beginner at exercising and Allon, the wellness coach who did my orientation, made me feel so at ease and eager to try several machines!
THE PEOPLE
The group classes are the main reason why I love the Y. However, the cleanliness of the group room A and ladies bathroom is severely lacking.
Friendly people abound!
Love all the classes
Instructors are great and welcoming
Classes, pools mix of ages, location, facilities.
Child watch is amazing and is literally the only reason I am able to attend fitness classes! Thank you!
Also, there is a really wide variety of group exercise classes at times that actually work for people working 9-5 jobs. (I still would love more pre-7am classes though!)
Also, the fitness machines and other equipment are top-notch. I never worry about things being unsafe or unclean--clearly the staff work hard to keep things both functional and beautiful.
Shortly after joining, I suffered an injury on a vacation and couldn’t do much at all, then had surgery. Yall were so nice to put my membership on hold during my recovery…. My Looonnnggg recovery. Now I am back, finding what is good for me at the Y, so many different options. I am so glad to have this in the community.

Friendly atmosphere. Good selection of exercise, modes, cleanliness
