I like the people, the atmosphere and the gym
Variety of machines and group classes
The friendly staff, who greet us in the morning, the terrific instructors, who make exercise fun while keeping us healthy.
It's a very comfortable atmosphere to focus on my workouts. Socializing is fun too. All in all I always have a pretty nice time.!!!!.
Great facility, nice people, love your pool for aqua Zumba.
Haven’t been for awhile as my favorite teacher departed, enjoyed a new time and different teacher.
Mahalo for the option!
We like the welcoming atmosphere and the quality of the instructors.
Not busy lots of old people and younger people not really any intimidating body builder type people like other gyms 👍🏼
Close to home, convenient. For it’s size we could use more cardio machines.
Leeward - new equipment in the gym; instead of discarding old equipment, they should use the ones in good shape in other areas of the Y that are not being used, like in the basement near the old Healthy Start Room that is now used for the young kids. The current staff in the gym are much better than some of the staff we had in the past. The maintenance still needs to be improved. The water fountains need cleaning. The trash dispensers in the showers (men's) need to be replaced. Take down the cardboard and fix the clips so the trash bags can be hung. The soap dispensers still have duct tape. If they are broken, they should be replaced. The faucets were fixed so it is much easier to wash your hands. Potential new members may get turned off if maintenance and housekeeping are poor.
Not crowded
Clean with variety of exercise equipment. I also like the hours and location. There is ample parking. And staff are professional.
People
Was a member of another fitness company some time ago and equipment was not maintained. YMCA has more variety of equipment, free weights, etc. and maintenance much better. Gym space is also kept clean. Good rules for people to follow for sanitation purposes and use of equipment. In general, members are there to exercise and not to socialize in the equipment room. Staff members are always courteous. Price is reasonable for the many days/hours it is available to members not to mention availability of various classes. Also like the ability to use Los Angeles YMCA at no additional cost when visiting son's living there.
Great Machines And Customer Service
The staff is very professional, my wife and me go to gym, and Dean is every helpful and friendly.
I love the Tai Chi classes and helpful staff.
Staff always nice and friendly. Everyone says hello
Friendly staff and members
Pool classes
Gail Sakata is an excellent instructor and I like the classes she offers for AOA.
I also appreciate that we are able to exercise in air-conditioned rooms. The staff are always friendly and helpful.
I have never used the Y’s gym facilities but am thinking about starting this year. I’m wondering if there is an orientation for this. That would be great.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. We really like the gym.
Clean, convenient, very friendly staff and members.
They have great classes and instructors!
The Leeward Aquatics instructors are terrific, especially Landon. Haley is responsive and Jeanie pushes the kids to achieve. My kids are making big strides in their classes and we are considering private instruction with Landon after the kids finish Flying Fish in late March. Am interested in enrolling the kids in the club swim and hope you will bring back that program.
The fitness center and the friendly staff.
I really enjoy the variety of group floor exercises the "Y" offer. I just wish more of the popular classes are available in the afternoon for the members who are still working.
As we are aging (80's) we keep hearing that we are not capable to drive as well as when we were much younger but because I exercise every day with the weights especially, I have not lost any confidence and in fact feel more confident than ever. I concentrate on my legs for strength and balance, and it has done wonders not only for my confidence, but it has healed my knee problems. My knees used to hurt a lot before but not any more so if that is not proof enough to exercise more than i don't know what is. i often heard from the doctors and from my own experience that the legs weaken as we age and that is why I am motivated to combat that by exercising more. And that is enough for me to eagerly go to the "Y" every day, no excuses. My wife has strong legs, so she concentrates on her cardio. And one of the best parts of going to the "Y" is making new friends from all walks of life. You can sometimes learn from their experiences and wisdom and that has been invaluable too. So, the YMCA is not only a place to improve your health but a place to have fun and meeting people. It is a place full of positives compared to just staying at home watching tv is a drag and can only adversely affect your health. Plain and simple it is the best solution for the young and old.
Aqua exercise instructor is great
Convenient class times, nice people

I love the additional activities they provide for us besides the regular classes, such as bingo, scrabble as well as lunches they provide for seniors. Also coffee we can purchase with snacks. I feel comfortable there. Everyone is helpful and friendly!
