Friendly and helpful staff. Facilities are kept clean and in good working order.
I'm enjoying the group exercise classes: Zumba with Melinda, Salsaerobics with Jon, and yoga with Ayako.

Friendly and helpful staff. Great facilities. Convenient location.
Reasonable membership fees, friendly staff and aqua classes offered
Like the yoga classes!! They should also have yoga classes on Tues & Thurs for after work people. Vinyasa Yoga classes would be good on these days from 5:30pm - 6:30pm. Just a suggestion.
Parking has been difficult at the Y on Saturdays. I have been taking the 10:30am yoga class, but had to drive around the area due to no parking.
Also, the weekday yoga class at 11:45am; sometimes parking is difficult. If possible, they should build a second level parking space.
What a great place ... from Bryan's smiling welcoming greeting, to visiting with the fun folks who are waiting for class to begin, to the pool with Kathy or Lauren. People seem to gravitate to the little shack get help, have a chat, leave stuff or just hang out.
Kathy is warm, friendly, adorable and a real pro.
She offers a series of "moves" that are totally appropriate for our class. She explains why we're doing things, what part of the body were working on, seems to know everybody and what's going on with them. We love and appreciate Kathy.
Lauren is very funny and keeps things moving along, with variety and just enough encouragement to help us get something out of the class. We get an excellent workout in spite of ourselves. Her constant cajoling is always based on what seems like she enjoys us. She is seriously a riot. We all love Lauren, and get a real kick out of her
Debra is another gem. Her approach is also successful; a good workout with fun comments. Debra works hard for us to enjoy the class and it pays off. Everyone looks happy.
Another most enjoyable and crucial bunch is the lifeguards. They take their job seriously. I've seen them intercede cautiously when they think they need to check on someone, but for the most part, they just make us feel secure.
They do way more than sit and watch us. They interact, know many of our names and do pool stuff that goes beyond lifeguarding. It is a hot thankless job, but we do thank them.
Sometimes, someone else is checking in, or subbing, but the Y seems to have developed a culture of professionalism and friendly kindness.
amazing friendly staff that greets us and available for any help we need. parking is good and easy as it's right next to the facility
I like this Y a lot because of the pool where people are friendly and the staff is very attentive in a genuine way. Most people on duty are very local and they know how to "talk story." They seem to be enjoying themselves on the job. If they do not know an answer to a question I have, they take time figure out who else I should contact. This says to me that they are getting and absorbing good training from executive staff and also it says to me that people on the job probably appreciate the non-profit mission of the Y which is not only making money but building community.
ALSO-
I Hope the Kaimuki Y can get funding to renovate the showers/bathroom to accommodate more members after swimming who are off to work or other destinations that require some post-swim grooming to be presentable. I do grant work and I am interested to know if the Y has any opening for people with grant-making/writing skills. I can be reached at:

Lots of classes!
Convince and helpful staff.
So community oriented and welcoming Love the variety of classes and gym and pool facilities. Instructors are excellent and staff are so friendly and caring always! I regularly attend yoga with Ayako in person usually but also via Zoom when I can’t come in person. This engagement is important and positive for me, in nurturing my physical, mental and emotional health and well being. I love connecting regularly with my yoga friends! MAHALO, Kaimuki-Waialae Y ‘Ohana!!! Naomi

The variety of classes. Something for everyone. Friendly & helpful staff.
It’s chill and people are nice.
good experience.
Everyone is nice and welcoming.
I like using the gym and the lanai with weights. The machines are new and older machines are in good repair. The staff is friendly. I'm happy you don't play music in the weight room.
I wish you had a yoga class I could attend. Your present yoga classes are streamed to home viewers. So the teacher is miked. Thus the class is too loud and the teacher can't come over to correct a pose. When students are lying on the floor, they look up at overhead lights which is uncomfortable.
I have been in yoga classes where there are no overhead lights, the music is soft, the teacher is not miked, and she or he corrects poses.
Great classes. Awesome gym
I'm taking the tai chi class and really like it. I don't know about any other programs. There was a bit of a bump when I became a member. Not much was explained to me. I learned about downloading the app to register for classes from classmates. Didn't know I had to wait for the second beep when I scanned my membership card. I needed a better introduction to the Y.
Love the water aerobics classes with Lauren. Love the talks with other seniors.
Exercise classes for seniors
Friendly insructors, trainers, managers, and members
air-conditioned exercise rooms
Covered outside area with lots of tables and seating for members to relax between workouts
Counter/kitchen with coffee, ice, etc. for members
The aqua classes are amazing! The people here are so nice and I have enjoyed making new friends. A great time combining, exercise and fun!!
Friendly community of friends at Aqua Zumba classes. Lots of fun!
Problems:
1. Equipment in poor shape; barbells (pool) need to be replaced.
2...After the deck was resurfaced, there was a rubber "ring: at the main steps which was a trip hazard. this eventually broke but there remains a puddle at the location which is slippery.
This has been reported to various lifeguards.
3. Classes are cancelled with little warning (infrequently). Insturctors are switched, sometimes with little warning.
