Member Testimonials
Uuperior health facility. I have been a member since the beginning. My biggest complaint is gym etiquette or I should say lack of. I predominately use the machines. These type of machines (Nautilus when I began using them decades ago) were meant to be use as circuit training. What I see today is members sitting on machines for 5 -10 -15 minutes doing multiple sets. Worse than that is the use of cell phones for scrolling, texting... while individuals sit at the machines. When I have asked (politely) if they were done, I have seen individuals say no and continue to view their phones prior to continuing w/ their multiple sets. I have also witnessed on more than one occasion where individuals become defensive. I do not believe this should be the responsibility of members to control this, it should be that of staff. This issue has only gotten worse over the years. I would like to see this corrected. This is a gym/health facility. If individuals want to text, view tic-toc or play games on their phones they should do it elsewhere.Recommendation would be to have information at each individual machine that could be easily pointed out. Also, during member initiation, membership sign-up and during perspective member tours. I have also seen a decline in members not wiping down machines. I ask management to walk around through out the day and view this first hand.

Most times I can get into the pool between 3-4pm to exercise.😊
Pool, equipment available.
I visited 3/1/24 and I really liked everything that I saw. I was blown away at how much that the YMCA has to offer. The exercise equipment excellent as far as being new and being able to work all groups of muscles. It's really nice to have somewhere to walk that's nice and safe. I never expected so much in one place. Thank you.
The CLASSES !
It's one of the best-appointed sports clubs I've been to, ever!
No hassle in and out, can always find a machine to work out on, friendly staff, lots of parking most of the time.
I absolutely love it here! This place is just perfect for my kids and me for all our activities. Plus, I'm saving a ton of money! I couldn't be more grateful!
The building is gorgeous… The workers are awesome… The friendships are priceless!
all the options
We love the Haselwood YMCA! So many fun activities to participate in and a great sense of community.
My daughter is participating in swim classes. I would like to recognize her current instructor Brooke, as she is very engaged with her students. She also is clear and concise with her instruction of new strokes. She is patient and offers each student a positive experience as they participate in their class. We have had several children go thru swim lessons at this Y location and we would recommend Brooke as a competent and caring instructor to others looking for a teacher.
Not only the best YMCA I have ever been to, but the best gym and the best pool I have ever been to. The river walk pool is great. The steam room is superb. The hot tub is better than any other I have experienced in a public place. I love the greatest variety of weight machines anywhere. The collection of cardio machines is amazing, and they have a great variety and enough for everyone to find a machine to work out on. The best part of all is that the cost is covered by many insurances' programs. It was a great place for me to exercise while recovering from several major surgeries.
I don't know what I would do without it.
Everything but the crowds. Need outdoor pickleball courts and additional classrooms for classes.
Lots of classes offered. Lots of equipment. Nice facility.
It’s a happy environment for family ! So friendly and kind . Thank you!!
The staff at Haselwood Family YMCA are friendly and helpful, the facility is very clean, and the Y offers a wide variety of classes. I have worked with one of the personal trainers and it continues to be a very positive experience. I highly recommend Haselwood Family YMCA to anyone looking for a great place to workout!
Look at what I donated last year to Hazelwood YMCA for my answer.
Variety of exercise options.
The entire facility is excellent from top to bottom. Actually, it's quite amazing that so many amenities are offered there. Also, it's truly remarkable that the staff is so friendly and inviting and that everything is kept so clean and in good working condition. First class operation!
Great place to workout!
Modern conveniences and easy parking
It provides a place for seniors like me to get some necessary exercise for no cost, thanks to my medical insurance company.
As a disabled senior, we enjoy walking in the pool.
Please, would the cleaners of the 'universal' changing rooms place the mat in front of the benches? Those things are heavy to drag. We must sit on the benches to change/dress our clothes and the area in front of the benches are often wet (and muddy) when the mats are in the middle of room.
Thank you so much!.
P. S. If the rubber mats are also placed along the route to and from the pool, our canes will not slip out from under us. It is so scary and if we fall, we'll never be able to return to the pool!
I like the family friendly atmosphere and the newer equipment.
a great place to workout, especially during the winter
I accidentally put my daughter into what I thought was her swim class. It was 2 levels up and the instructor was SO PATIENT, and friendly. Thank you!! -Sofia/Sophia
Facility is well maintained and the staff is friendly. Dave with the Kickstart program was very helpful setting goals and developing a plan to achieve them.
I like the HITT class I take on Tuesday and Thursday at 8AM. It used to happen 3x a week at 730 which was a better motivator b/c it got me to the gym 3x for sure. Please add it with Lucretia a third time on a week day.
