I love the friendly and truly wonderful people that work there. They create a welcoming and comfortable environment where you can come, exercise, and live a more healthy lifestyle. Lately, there have been a number of stationary bikes and weight machines that have had temporary out of service notices on them that have extended past a week delay.
The staff is so friendly and call you by name. This makes you feel welcome.

Working ou and yoga
Everything is good. The staff the people that are members, and I enjoy the YMCA immensely.. my only complaint would be that the gym floor is rarely if ever cleaned and a lot of people use that gym on Wednesday and Friday 50 to 70 people lay their mats on that floor and it’s filthy so that needs to be corrected. I’ve mentioned this before, so I’m not very hopeful about anything happening, but that gym floor does need to be attended to on a regular basis
The work out class with Tammy , 11:30 to 1215 pm , on Mon, Wed., Friday is very good. She gives us a good work out and good instructions. And the class members are fun and become nice friends. I enjoy the YMCA. in Tempe and the facility is clean and attractive !

There is a serious problem with employees communicating with each other. Seems to me there should be a 'Today's Update' note at the front desk where employees KNOW what is going on in your gym.
I just called in about my Wed morning exercise class. My instructor takes responsibility for contacting us individually (which is GREAT). This week there was a necessary change since evidently no one could find a sub for her Wed this week. So, she changed HER schedule to accommodate us on Thurs. I just called in and the front desk person did not know there had been a change.
This breakdown i communication is not the first time (in the many years we've been typically happy members) it's happened. How about putting the 'comment cards and a pencil in the lobby and let us participants help you help us?

YMCA has great exercise classes and not crowded so that I almost always manage to use equipment without having to wait.
Its free for me since I am a Senior Citizen, otherwise I could not afford it.
I enjoy coming to the Tempe Y during my winter stay in Arizona. It is convenient, good selection of equipment and the personnel at front desk are personable and welcoming. I enjoy there some good opportunities for socializing like first Friday bagel gathering and the holiday pot luck.
There is a nice variety of classes available, it’s beautifully clean there, and everyone is so friendly! I’m so happy to get to go to the Y!

I like the friendliness of staff. I like the close proximity to our house. I like the members that come to the Y. I like the classes that are offered.

Friendly. Feels more "homey" than some of the big gyms. I do wish there were a few more exercise classes, however, and maybe specific trainer or 2 specifically trained to work with older adults.

I love the friends I have made at the Y. My favorite class is Spin with Heidi. The workout rooms are very nice. The elliptical and weight machines are among my favorites. I am sad they removed all but one toilet and sink from the women's locker room. I would also like them to replace or repair existing spin bikes on a more regular basis. Much of the time the bikes are in need of repair.

When we moved (from Minnetonka, MN) to Phoenix in 2012, we almost immediately enrolled at the Tempe YMCA. (We were Y members in Minnesota.) Although we now also use the Ahwatukee Y, we still consider the Tempe Y to be our base Y. The staff and members there are "down to earth" real people and we feel a solid connection. (We looked extensively for a home in Tempe, but ended up in Ahwatukee due to availability of affordable homes and proximity to our daughter's family.)
