Yes it wonderful
I am giving 10 stars solely to our instructor, Gabriela, who was amazing with our daughter. I loved that she was consistently there (in years past we would often have different instructors weekly.) This helped our daughter continue to build upon what she learned the previous week instead of the instructor taking her back to things she had already learned or wasn't ready for yet. Gabbi was very kind and patient and I would recommend her specifically to anyone who wanted swim lessons for their little kids.
Overall though, I felt there is room for growth. First, there was no communication leading up to the start of lessons. Yes, I understand I am an adult and should keep up with my child’s schedule, but a reminder would be excellent customer service. For those not familiar with the Y, I think including helpful tips like where to check in for your lesson, what to expect for the level you chose, etc. Even using it as a platform to educate the parents registering about the importance of swim lessons because of the high drowning rate amongst children in our state. It could also then be a way to get them interested in S.A.W and possibly donate to the Y due to the importance of the work we do regarding water safety.
The only email I got was the last week of our June lessons giving me a discount code to register for July sessions. I think it would have been better received if it was presented more as a wrap up email of “here are the skills your child learned in level 1/2 and here is what they could continue to learn… here are some great next steps to continue your child’s growth at home… Plus, here is a discount code for future swim lessons!”
There is also not enough seating for how many lessons happen at one time. Then to top it off, the last Saturday, they were working on the pavilion, so all the parents were standing in the sun as most of the seats had been taken by the water aerobics participants putting their towels and personal belongings down.
Lincoln did an amazing job!
The instructors were very nice and taught my grandchildren safety and different swim strokes. They made the class fun. They gave me daily progress reports.
Thorough and time was taken, felt at ease
My daughter loves these classes and is very comfortable in water now.

That my teen is excited about the different activities that she is experiencing and able to get community service hours. Giving her an opportunity to be able to exercise everyday, smooth check in
Small but it is so friendly and I love it!
I like the classes, instructors are kind and helpful. Everyone is kind at the front desk. The YMCA hours are good.
Best front desk staff ever! Very friendly. Fitness floor is clean. I don't care for the new paint job though.
I usually attend the GP YMCA in the summer for the Water Fitness/Aerobics classes which are REALLY good. The teachers are knowledgble, very interactive with attendees and plan the classes well (i've done water for >40yrs). I really enjoy the classes. However. after class is over we are forced to walk ALL the way around the front desk to get to the rest room to change, dripping water on the floor and possibly falling or having someone else to fall. There is a side door to the pool area which can not be opened from the outside. I understand the reasoning, but it sure would be nice if at the end of class someone was stationed there for about 10mins to open the door to allow us direct route to restrooms to use the showers. That's my only complaint. Thanks.
Team is very friendly
Staff very helpful, great atmosphere
Friendly and good communication.
I would definitely recommend sports at the YMCA , my daughters have had a good experience overall. As parents it is important that we understand that this is a recreational league and we should not get caught up in the competition aspect. The ultimate goal of a sport is to win, however, it is imperative that every boy or girl get a fair chance to develop their skills. I applaud all the volunteers and the staff for their effort and their commitment to the youth. It does require patience and understanding as well as participation from the parents so that the overall experience can be a positive one. Thanks
I really like that the kids are learning the basics and having fun with the sport.
It's convenient and runs efficiently for parents.
I liked the structure of the games and the coach.
I love this y!
Classes at my Grand Prairie location are awesome! I enjoy Thuy and Brandon’s classes, both are extremely well lead and very knowledgeable about fitness and how to help members reach their fitness goals. Additionally the equipment in the gym is clean and well maintained.
The Grand Prairie YMCA is friendly and inviting. The available hours are set at good times to enjoy workouts and events without dealing with crowds of people.
Clean & well maintained facility!
The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The fitness instructors are super!. The availability of different activities at various times of the day is very convenient. The membership price is fair.
Great rec center for families of all ages.

My kids learned fast and they love it
