Friendly and inviting atmosphere
I'm very grateful for the Parent/Child swim lessons offered at the Y. They're one of the few opportunities for families with children under 3 to get involved outside of Child Watch and PNO.
That said, I wish there were more consistency with the instructors. The first week, we had a fantastic instructor who used songs and games and was clearly experienced with this age group. However, the following two weeks brought different instructors who were kind but less engaging. My daughter, who has social anxiety with unfamiliar adults, struggled with the weekly changes.
It would also help if the automated registration email included more details, such as weekend parking challenges at the branch, check-in procedures for lessons, and the swim schedule so we could plan for open swim afterward. Or if this information wasn't available when we first registered, a follow up email closer to the start date to prep us for our time at the Y.
Finally, the transition from lessons to open swim was unclear. Some staff asked us to exit and re-enter the pool, while others allowed us to just stay in.
Best place to work out! I love the Y gym! Especially the Christian music playing the entire time. ☺️
The instructors, Daveon (I hope I spelled his name correctly), were very hands-on. They worked on an area my son struggled in, which developed him into the swimmer he is today. Plus, all of the kids love the end of the session where they get to play and receive popsicles at the end. Not to mention, I also learned to swim from the YMCA when I was a kid.
My kid's current instructor is awesome. They work extremely hard every day, and I am impressed with the progress.

I can't believe how much I learned in just 2 weeks of lessons. I went from being afraid to be more than about waist high in water to being able to float, tread water, and to swim in 2 different ways. My husband, who was also in the class, could swim, but he was not comfortable in the deep end of any pool. Now, he has no trouble being in the deep end. I can't stress just how amazing Davion is as an instructor. He's very personable, knowledgeable, patient, and very much in tune with each individual student's needs. He is a gem. Both my husband and I were very impressed with him.
As Elyse was an amazing swim instructor. She was very compassionate and made me feel very comfortable every step of the way!

My daughter's instructor was very helpful, and she was able to learn some basic things to help her learn how to swim and be comfortable in the water.
Davion & Jayden were very good instructors.

Highly recommend the GP "Y". Mike Garcia was great as the administrator and hope the new
administration & staff continues to be as great as well. The "C" in YMCA is what makes this centre what it is and provides this surrounding community with multiple benefits. There is something for everyone here, be it Health, Literacy, or Sports. Highly recommend this locale for the whole family.

Never too crowded and enough equipment to accomplish your goals....I think its alittle expensive regarding the monthly fee.

Fun, educational experience for the teams and love how it's not super competitive. Greah for beginners.
It was out first year playing at the YMCA and our son had a great time. Coach was very friendly always was positive with the kids reminding them it was just a game.
Great communication. Easily accessed schedule. Clear communication about rain delays or cancellations. Coaches with appropriate training and supportive/encouraging techniques. Polite teenage/young adult referees. Adequate parking. Well maintained facility.
The fellowship with families and child enjoys playing sports.

The staff at the front desk is superb! They are so helpful! They are very respectful as well. My swimming instructor Davio is excellent! Last night was my first swimming class And before that I had only been to that YMCA once to join. I’m very impressed!
