Handicapped friendly site. The whole vibe is you are welcome, no matter your ability.
Mary Free Bed is a great location with many different options to support a variety of heath/fitness needs.
There's so much that I like about Mary Free Bed YMCA, but one thing that I really like is that the group fitness classes are included in the membership, and no matter what my fitness level is at, the instructors are encouraging to everyone in the class.
It makes me feel proud of myself!
Plus I like the temperature compared to the outside temperature for running
I also like the fact that if I fall and get hurt someone there will help me.
Large , open, clean, safe, well run facility with a wide choice of health equipment and exercise options
Great space. Love everything about the facility, including the sauna!
Overall very good.
Communication on certain things could be better.
For example, the pool: On Monday and Thursday evenings, there are Rays and Masters swimming and all of the lanes are full. Yet open/lap swim is still scheduled for that time.
Several times the masters swimmers have had to give up pool space that they paid extra for, to allow the lap swimmer a lane.
I also think the change from quarterly program duration/enrollment to monthly is not good. It’s just a pain overall and now programs cost more as well.
Programs, clean and bright facility, friendly staff!
Always clean, lots to do, our whole family enjoys working out and playing here.
Clean, not too crowded most of the time, friendly staff, modern equipment in good working order.
I love the Y. Best value workout place. It’ll get busy in January but so does every other gym.
One thing - the Mary free bed Sauna in the men’s rooms smells of BO more than the downtown Y. Maybe the faculties staff could wipe it down once a week?
You offer a wide variety of classes that we attend, plus the pool and weight machines are an added plus for my husband and I to use.
Variety
I enjoy the Saturday 8AM water aerobics. The overall facility is welcoming and has plenty of equipment to use for aerobic or weight training. Staff is friendly.
I like to swim as well but the lap pool water is too cold. I go to Wolverine YMCA more often to swim. And the lockers are very small. I also don't care for the motion sensor faucets. I understand the economy of them but it's hard to shave with those.
Great facility with options for whatever workout you want to do. The kids zone is also fantastic.
Staff isn't as friendly as the Wolverine location
Friendly receptionists, variety of facility offerings, excellent personal skills & knowledge in my personal trainer, Bethany DeWit; guests of varied abilities, programs for all ages, skills, abilities & interests.
Very friendly , convenient , helpful ,take care our health successful
I love the classes!
Very good facility and classes for the price.
There is such a variety not only in equipment but also staffing and trainers.
The cleaning staff does an amazing job and is always respectful and kind.
I would highly suggest that this YMCA being a central hub near many 3rd and 1st workers consider opening at 4am.
Great instructors, nice facilities!
Very easy to access all the facility options. Locker room clean. Showers hot. Hot tub great and big. Multiple rooms for different training and fitness styles. Excellent parking.
I love the MFB ymca!! Everyone is so nice! I love the variety of workout and social options. Plus it’s really clean!!! Thank you!!
Good facilities and equipment, very well run, very clean
I love the water aerobics, the great staff, clean facilities and friendly environment. Really everything about the Y!
Have always loved the Y since my elementary school days in Massachusetts. Put a steam room in this Y and you got a 10 rating.
Staff, cleanness, location, positive attitudes, pools, walking & running areas, and equipment galore.
The staff is very nice.
The pools are excellent.
The Staff, the programs/classes and the facility!

Clean, friendly people, nice atmosphere
