Beautiful airy rooms for fitness classes, excellent instructors. (I love Uma!) Front desk people are always so friendly. Fabulous fitness room and great outdoor space. Would love to have more activities outdoor in nice weather.

5. Last & most important to me - the YMCA is not just a good gym. It does a number of programs geared towards helping the community & disadvantaged. The neighborhood initiative includes veterans, seniors (memory cafe), children in need & diversity celebrations & I have met some awesome fellow volunteers at the Y
I like the availability of the eGym and the assistance of the staff when I have questions.
I don't like the unwillingness of the facility to accept the payment offered by Renew Active as did the Berkeley Heights & Madison Ys. Financially supporting the seniors in our community sometimes involves some sacrifice. Joining Renew Active may even increase membership.

EVERYTHING! The best YMCA I’ve ever been to. I go to the Somerset Hills YMCA almost everyday. State of the art equipment and a awesome variety of classes. Great instructors that treat you like family. Super friendly members. Love Maria, Juan and Anthony!

I like the facility, the variety of classes, the activities for my children and the sense of community.
After a 3 year absence due to Covid circumstances, I just rejoined the Y - and I'm delighted that I did! The GroupEx Pro schedule of classes is wonderful and appears to cover most preferences. The functioning of the "plant" itself is the biggest change for me - the online sign-up etc.is a great improvement. When you sign up, you receive reminders of your upcoming class or any changes. The Y itself looks like it has had a makeover - bright, spotless,inviting. And, finally, the 'culture" of the Y makes choosing a 2lb weight as a starter no problem - you do what you need to do.....and hopefully move up!

The Y is a great place to be apart of. They have so much to offer not only for people looking to improve their lives but is great for the entire community.
It's frustrating that Engelhard Pool is frequently closed in the early part of the afternoon during the week. Also, please have a policy for aqua joggers who use lanes during an "Adult Lane Swim" time. For example the policy might be if there is more than one aqua jogger in the pool during lap swim, have the guard ask the aqua joggers to double up in a lane before the lap swimmers have to double up. The aqua joggers are frequently gabbing so why not have them occupy only one lane. Also, there are class times available for them when lap swimming in the same pool is not available.
It has so much to offer! Love the wellness center, pool and group ex classes, as well as volunteer and community opportunities. I've been a member for over 30 years and have never regretted it!
