What do you like about your YMCA of Montclair - School Age Child Care experience?

The staff at Forest Avenue School in Verona is wonderful. I love that my child plays outside, is off a screen, and interacts with kids from different grades.
It’s like a social skills group built in!

What do you like about your YMCA of Montclair - School Age Child Care experience?

My son goes to early care every day and is so excited! He is in K and loves that he has 3-4 friends in older grades that he gets to play with every morning.

What do you like about your YMCA of Montclair - School Age Child Care experience?

The reliable friendly adults who oversee our kids every day are just wonderful. They bring a good attitude and a continuity. My daughter hates to leave!

What do you like about your YMCA of Montclair - School Age Child Care experience?

The team at Northeast Elementary is very engaged with the children at their aftercare program. They help my daughter with her homework, provide them with encouragement and fun opportunities to learn + also help them navigate disagreements and challenging relationships with other children. I'm very impressed with the team all working together at Northeast.

What do you like about your YMCA of Montclair - Staycation experience?

My twins have an amazing two days at the year end staycation. My daughter did not want to leave she had so much fun. They both love the staycation because the get to see existing friends and always come home talking about a new friend. What makes it even more special is when we sign up for camp at the lake and they see familiar faces.

What do you like about your YMCA of Montclair - Staycation experience?

It's such a wonderful and much-needed program! I wish that 4 year olds could do it this year like they have in the past - my 4 year old is sad to miss out.

What do you like about your YMCA of Montclair - School Age Child Care experience?

My son really seems to enjoy being able to stay and play with all the other kids. While it's unstructured, it lets them work on relationship building and problem solving. I do wish they would proactively ask the younger ones about homework before play though.

Would hope there is still consideration for 6:30pm pickup.

What do you like about your YMCA of Montclair - School Age Child Care experience?

We got off to a rocky start last year, but the caregivers this year in aftercare for my son have been amazing. For starters it's obvious that they CARE, which is a huge improvement already.

Ms. Kim sincerely cares about the kids in her charge, and goes above and beyond so they have the best experience possible, like organizing parties for them and buying the supplies herself, or making sure they get lots of outside time to play. She's informative, doesn't sweat the small stuff, and I've seen a change in other staff members because her positive attitude oozes out of her and affects those around her.

She is a gem and we are lucky to have her as a caregiver this year!

What do you like about your YMCA of Montclair - School Age Child Care experience?

My son enjoys this program so much, he is always disappointed when we arrive to pick him up. Staff are very friendly. Most of all, I LOVE that after care begins at dismissal, even on early dismissal days. Life-saver for working parents!

After care has been a real help to my family. Since my husband and I work beyond normal school hours, it's been wonderful to have a strong after care program on our school site for our daughter.
