Convenient hours
My kid loves it. The director and instructors are awesome.
The people who work there are primarily Black or people of color, which I think is important, being a mom of a Black American son. They clearly love children. They are not on their phones or disengaged but rather are interacting with and playing with the children. They provide order, safety, structure, fun and kindness. My son enjoys it so much that he begs to stay longer. It’s nice to feel confident that he’s in an environment that is safe and that he enjoys.
The child care program through the YMCA provides a very professional and safe environment for children. I haven't had any complaints within the 2 years that I've required services.
The kids absolutely love after care. They enjoy the Zumba class, variation of games and activities.
The only issue is the staff often doesn’t help the kids when bullying issues arrive. Would like a bit more adult intervention when the kids experience disputes and bullying.

The Forest Ave-Verona Aftercare program is amazing. They plan fun activities for the kids and they look forward to being there. They are also thoughtful and helpful when completing homework with the students.

Staff is caring, attentive and my child enjoys after care. They make after care so much fun that my child wants to be the last to be picked up.
Staff is always kind and helpful. Would ask Parents of students to please park legally when picking up their kids as Fullerton gets really busy and narrower when cars are parked on both sides, and it's hard for other drivers to see people in the cross walks when they are parked on both sides. Thank you!
The kids are given a good mix of indoor/physical activity and the staff really seems to cater towards what the kids enjoy doing. My daughter loves all of them in particular Miss Emma! Also they seem to have a firm hand and generally keep things under control which I appreciate. I can't tell you how nice it is to not have to worry about early dismissal dates and know my kid will be well taken care of, a lifesaver for working parents.
My daughter has a great time at aftercare. Counsellors keep her active and interested.

Now that my daughter has been in after care for 6 months at Brookdale , I can say that I am very impressed with the program. The aftercare staff continuously engage with the kids and new supplemental programs have been brought on including zumba and stem.
