All the options
The Y has a wide variety of classes with very good instructors for a very reasonable price. The Y is kept clean with the twice yearly closings for repair/cleaning.
I basically use the various weight rooms. They are clean and reasonably well equiped. And the Y location is very convenient.
Tremendous facilities, well run Y.
I like the pool and the women’s locker room, and the dry sauna.
I’ve already written a positive public review in Google.
The people, especially the aquatics director! I don't know how she remembers every detail a out everything, but she DOES! Give her and all the swim instructors a raise, honestly, because they are unfailingly excellent.
Great instructors. Friendly desk staff. Helpful atmosphere
The staff is very friendly and helpful. I love the group fitness classes - Rayshawn's boot camps, Mary's step and sculpt, and Gerald's Zumba. You have a great schedule that meets my needs. Thank you for all you do to make the Y a great fitness community.
There are lots of classes to participate in, and it is very clean and friendly.
Staff very friendly, courteous, buddy with the members etc

Convenience
Montclair ymca is the best! The equipment is new and well maintained, the classes are excellent, the pool, and the people! I would never go anywhere else.
My husband and I joined in February. We come at least 4 days a week, sometimes multiple times in one day. We enjoy our fellow gym goers - so welcoming and caring and not hoity-toity, as well as the instructors - fun, knowledgeable and professional, and all the staff who always have a kind word and smile when we come and go.
Hike, kids having time to interact and be kids outdoors without life interrupting.
The Y offers a great feeling of community. The offering of exercise classes is attractive, and the extent of workout areas and equipment is very good, especially since additions in the recent months/year.
Everyone is always so nice. The atmosphere is always very pleasant. The facilities are always very clean and well kept. You have an array of things that you can do.
I like that the facilities are generally quite clean and the staff is friendly, and being adjacent to a parking garage is great.
I left the Y to join a private gym. Mistake. First, I notice a huge difference with the Y now compared to less than a year ago even -- better equipment, staff seem more personable and "on it." Second, I didn't appreciate how much the Y felt like family, the energy that kids and family bring to the facility. Loving it!
The people members and staff.
It’s like we were divinely brought together. Seriously.
Hand picked group of fun loving productive progressive people.
Admin. are friendly and helpful
For many years it was a place that provided safe, healthy and communal well being options as well as opportunities for learning and engaging with the community. Prior to COVID, the building, the brick and mortar oozed a high energy unmatched by any local gym in the area. It was easy to find activities, classes and groups to join. Friendships developed organically and as in my case, my group of gym rat friends has stood the test of time. We were all strangers to each other when we met more than 10 years ago. We have participated in the Lose to Win Challenges, Strong Warrior, Glow in the Dark Zumba Party, Fundraising Campaigns, the Annual Walk/Run and many more events over the years. We celebrate our friendship several times a year in various ways as well as our annual October hiking weekend in the Berkshires. I even celebrated my 60th birthday with a 2 hour Zumba party at the YMCA. I enjoy having flexible options for exercising, especially now after 3 foot and hip surgeries in the last 4 years. The introduction of some earlier class times is working out much better for me these days because I can go straight from work and participate in a class at 5pm, 6pm or 6:30pm class. I'd like to see more options for stretching. There is one stretch class I believe on Friday evening but in my opinion it needs some re-tooling or bumped up a notch if you will. Affordable assisted stretch is an option I think people could benefit from. I'd like to work out with a personal trainer once a week, but cannot afford the fee. I could go on and on and on. Thank you for this survey.
It offer the swimming class that my son needs. The staffs treats everyone equally. They are always attentive, kind and friendly. They make you feel welcome in each visit.
The staff is very helpful and pleasant.
