Member Testimonials
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the pool. With my RA, the warm water makes a tremendous difference in my day-to-day activities. I recommend the pool ALL. OF. THE. TIME!
The only issue I have is the hours. I work full time and can only get there in the morning. Before COVID, the pool was open at 5:30 in the morning and I used to come from 6 to 7. getting a full hour workout before work.
Now, the pool doesn't open until 7. Meaning, I've had to request special permission from my job to come in at 8:20 so I can swim for 30-40 minutes instead of my hour. In addition, if the chemicals are off or the lifeguard is late, I have to forfeit my workout because I don't have time.
There are several people in the pool at 7 that I believe would come earlier if the pool were open earlier. So, I would like to request the pool be opened earlier (even 6:30). That way. if something prevented the pool from opening on time, there is some time to adjust and still get a full workout without running out of time (for us workers) or running into a scheduled class.
Thank you for the consideration.
Classes
Just recommend the facility

The Y has excellent instructors, the equipment is appropriate for the class, the facilities are well maintained. The people who use the Y are motivated people and fun to be around.

I have been a member of the Senior Center Now know as the YMCA Healthy Living Center since it opened over 20 years ago. I was a Life Guard till My Health Issues started going south But I enjoyed the people around me and it’s members. The Water Actually Has Saved My Life. I go Swimming 3 Days A Week, the Y In CB has a hidden Jewel and it’s the Water 💧 I’m So Thankful I’m a Member I look forward to coming to the Center Like A Friday Night Date.
The YMCA Healthy Living Center is really one of a kind. Amanda does an EXCELLENT job of managing the Center and Lois heading up the exercise portion as well. There are many classes offered, actually I wish more. as some are so full anymore.....apparantly the word is out. I would highly recommend it to others.
The teachers
I like the new equipment (bikes and treadmills) at the Healthy Living Center, but there needs to be a few upright Expresso Bikes rather than just recumbent bikes becuase the recumbent bikes hurt my lower back (I can't be the only one). It would also be nice if they stayed open until 7pm like they used to before Covid.
The gym is clean and maintenance is good.
The Variety of exercise classes to accommodate different levels of ability to exercise. Many activity opportunities to socialize with others.
The water aerobics teachers are great. At the senior center and the main location in council bluffs.
The amount of different activities is great, the people are friendly and the facilities are very clean.
Your instructors, and the environment
