The ranger program. Very interactive.
If I were to dream up the most incredible camp experience for my kid, I don’t know that I could top Children’s Island. And some might think it’s all about the location (an island!) or the activities (sailing and snorkeling!) but no, it’s the counselors that make it so special. THANK YOU to all of our 2026 counselors for creating such a welcoming, fun, and enriching community. The smiles are going to last a year!

Children’s island day camp has been something that I look forward to throughout the entire year for a very long time. I have just finished my 7th year going to the this camp, and after reflection there are a few things that make this camp so special to me. I feel that this camp is so special to me because of the way that it is valued by the people who go to it, counselors, CITs, campers alike. In return people who decide to try children’s island realize that this place is special in a way that no where else is because of the values and traditions that we uphold here from ranger late night to fire races and more. The staff here are the main ones that are able to uphold this so, I give them the greatest thanks. From older staff from my childhood like Reed, Kasey, Andy, Nicole, to staff recently gone like Shea, Izzy, Gracie, Dan, Matt, to staff rising up through camp to uphold the island like June, Elise, Avery, Alysa, Olympia, Charlie, Avy, Stella, Nirvana, Clark, Sammy and so many more. These are the people who have made the island so special to me in the past and who I know will continue to for the future. I wish to learn as much as I can from these people, and I hope to use the knowledge I gain to uphold the island beliefs myself when my time comes, and in the present as well. Thank you children’s island staff, my island family who has raised me since I was little and convinced me to come back year after year to this amazing place. I will forever be grateful for you all❤️!
My daughter and son have gone to Children's Island camp the past three years and what an amazing experience it has been. The camp counselors and CITs create an unforgettable experience for the campers, and I got to witness the specialness of Ranger Night in July for my daughter, Emma Hensey. As the Hannah Glover was coming in to the harbor I could hear the kids singing and it touched me so much (tears), with so much gratitude filling my heart for an unforgettable night. I knew in that moment it would be a core memory both her and I would carry for many years to come. I hope everyone has an amazing year this year and see you next summer!

First name removed had a wonderful time at Children’s Island! She has grown so much over the 10 weeks she was there- she developed meaningful relationships with several new friends, and counselors. Leslie was so welcoming and kind to First name removed on her first week, pickup and drop off while getting to know the other counselors was also great. Charlie would always yell hey Eller! And I think that got First name removed very excited- she loved that she shared the same name with counselor First name removed and told me she was sad when she went back to college. Izzy, Maddie, Clark, Meghan- the whole crew was wonderful and we are excited to come back next year!
Savannah wants to shout out Miss Alana from gymnastics camp. She said that she knows Miss Alana from her Y after school program and it was so good to see her and give her a hug! Savannah says she is so nice and the best counselor!
We had a wonderful experience with YMCA Children’s Island Camp! My daughter absolutely loved it and looked forward to going every day. The staff and counselors were friendly, caring, and made the kids feel welcome and safe. There were so many fun activities, and she came home every day excited to tell us about everything she had done. I also really appreciate the positive and supportive atmosphere of the camp. Thank you for making her summer so special and creating such great memories. We would definitely love to come back next summer!

My kids had a great time. They all said (my girls were doing gymnastics) this was the best week. Typically most of these camps are great and my kids have a great time.
However on the last day my son came home and told me on Friday (week Aug 17 Sports Mania) he was hit, choked and he called it cannon ball so someone leaping or jumping on him maybe. Now I get this is coming from a 7yo however he was insistent this happened and he told me the other child was sent home immediately. He repeated the story a few times and the details didn't change which leads me to believe him. However he is 7 so he can exaggerate at times. No parent was ever notified. If this all did happen the way my son is saying I am LIVID I never received even a phone call nothing at pick up absolutely no communication from you all.

The variety of water based classes, the outdoor pool, the indoor pools, the high quality of the instructors, especially Heather Saxe and Meg.
This was a third year at Y camp for my kids, and every year it’s getting better and better! My daughter was in the gymnastics camp, and loved it! She can’t wait for next summer! My son joined a soccer camp this year, and it was excellent! Big Thank You to all the staff members at the Y, you are all amazing!!!
It is a wonderful place and resource for fitness
Love everything about LVO YMCA - EXCEPT the saunas!! They are terrible! And i'm not just saying that because they're out of order right now - which is fine. Infrared sauna has NO science behind it compared to traditional dry heat sauna. Dry heat sauna is extensively studied and excellent for mental health and cardiovascular health - infrared IS NOT. PLEASE put in real saunas. PLEASE. Please. They are not substitutes. Otherwise, I absolutely love it.
Great place, great classes. Some of the dance classes need way better instruction, though (Zumba and bellydancing) - it's like the instructor is just dancing for themselves! And it's way too fast.
My son loved the gymnastics camp. He’s a very busy and active 5 yo so having different activities all day long was a great fit for him.
Easy access to many different types of exercise. Love the community feel of all ages, all welcome. Clean, friendly , bright work it spaces.
It’s convenient and it has everything I’m looking for in a workout.

Miles had the best time as a Seal Pup at Children's Island this summer! He absolutely loved working to secure his Blue Patch, and many of the counselors were dedicated in helping that happen. The biggest thank you to Avi, who saw Miles' love for nature and the island, and channeled his energy in the best way. We love you guys and can't wait to return next summer!
