The Y has been and is a very rewarding experience for me.
I've never been one to use a gym and its facilities - never in my life since I was 15.
But - I began going to the Y on the advice of my orthopedist who recommended riding a stationary bike for 20 minutes, 3 times a week to help strengthen my leg muscles.
He said it would help take the "load" off of my bad knees.
I followed his suggestion and joined the Y about 3 years ago and have been faithful in my stationary bike routine ever since. It has made a real difference for me.
While at the Y, i saw other people of a wide age range also using the facilities to help maintain their strength, get in some exercise and socialize.
I sought help from the Y Trainers as to how best to use various resistance machines. They have been and are very helpful.
I now have an every other day routine using resistance machines and feel much stronger physically and healthier. I enjoy my time at the Y. It's been a very good experience for me,
I should mention I am in my 70's.
