Everything!
The community created and people working here foster an amazing atmosphere. Recommend to anyone asking!
Very well organized. Drop off and pick up were easy. My daughter has the time of her life, and enjoyed all the activities and everyone cared about her wellbeing and ensure she had a great time.
My daughter attended 6 weeks of Children’s Island Day Camp. I liked the variety of activities each day but also the routine of starting the day at the flagpole, camp songs. Themes were great, changing each week. Everyday my daughter came home dirty - so lots of activities outside. She talked about wanting to go every year and becoming a counsellor (she is a seal pup this year). I felt communication by director was adequate, would have liked more pictures.
The class variety and the instructors are amazing.
Heather Saxe is the best , it’s like having a personal trainer when you do one of her classes . Heather just doesn’t teach a class she really makes sure you are doing all the exercises correctly to avoid injury and get maximum results. The Y is extremely lucky to have her on staff!!
Clean. Organized.
Great programming. Everyone is nice friendly and welcoming.
It's a great place to work out and socialize with friends from the community.
Big, clean facility. Regardless of your fitness goal, you can find it here
excellent price
Variety of programs
Squash singles and doubles
Weights etc.
The Lynch/van Otterloo YMCA is spacious, clean, and offers multiple work out rooms. The pools are very attractive and the staff is welcoming.
Everything!
Friendly staff and patrons and a variety of group fitness classes.
Children's Island Camp was great. Our son lives in Park City UT and we sent him to the camp because I grew up going as a kid. He didn't know any campers but as soon as we walked up his counselor from last year recognized him, Lilly, which was awesome and made him feel so welcome.
The Y has something for everyone.
The staff is so friendly and helpful always help me. We could use some more pens in the in the office over there upstairs in the gym.
It's clean, the equipment is in good condition, and you have just hired a new Manager of Training who has an excellent reputation.
I like everything about the program activities; my son always has so much fun and enjoys being at the camp.
It is clean.
Love the instructors.
The equipment is kept up and interesting.
Wish you would plant trees and bushes outside. They absorb water and carbon and promote biodiversity.
When are you going to install solar on that huge roof. After years of send the Y various underwriting possibilities, it is all dead now because of who sits in DC, but we must still do this.
A special thank-you to Heather, who for the second time has taught Dance Jam on Sat. morning when the substitute teacher was not there.
My child had a blast this summer at Children's Island. Every day had something fun and exciting that he looked forward to, and he made so many friends along the way. His highlights were swimming, crafts, gaga, and exploring the beaches for treasure.
The cou selors were supportive to my son a d really listened. Funn all summer. This was his second year at children's island day camp
Especially liked sailing program.
Kids loved the general sports camp and ability to switch between activities
It's convenient, clean, friendly, has a lot of options for health and wellness.
my family LOVED their time in the island and felt everyone was very nice and welcoming
Children’s island is incredible - what a gift for the kids to be on the water an at their private location. Happy kid and family!
The YMCA -Another great reason to live in Marblehead
Entire program is great: Counselors, Communications, Activities. The new bathroom facilities & seal pup buildings are nice. It's also really fun to see the long history of the island with plaques & mementos on the walls.
The only room for improvement, would be some general landscaping out there. I think trimming back some of the vegetation overgrowth, as well as seeding grass in open areas, would make a big difference.
I love that the program allows the children to learn about nature as well as being outdoors. They are able to do regular camp activities while also being creative with the nature materials already on the island.

The teachers are all amazing and love that the program isn’t just in the classrooms but outside and utilizing the Y facilities too
