i would like it to be recognized what an unbelievable asset ms laura is with gymnastics! Ms. vicky has always been great as she fills in when help is needed. i am very the scum for her too. the two of them together have made gymnastics s great experience for my daughter, and i’m happy to have these women involved!
also, new director austin. i can’t say enough for what s great job he does. i am very impressed how he deals with young kids during celtics basketball. the ymca picked an unbelievable candidate to take over the sports! i am happy
to see how the ymca things a great experince for the kids!

Always friendly at the front desk or when I need some help. Great new facility in Gloucester. What’s not to like?

Because it’s a beautiful facility, everything is clean, lots of sunlight, and it is never overly crowded.

The Fitness Floor Staff member (female) was awesome- cleaning areas and ensuring the fitness space was well maintained. She was cleaning areas not many people would think to clean- super impressed.

The staff are amazing with my son! He loves going to the afterschool program and summer camp!

I enjoy the variety of programs, especially yoga and free swim. Also appreciate the cleanliness of the facility.

The personnel are friendly and helpful. The facility and equipment are kept spotless. I usually do not wait for a piece of equipment. I enjoy the availability of food.

Since Kayla has taken over as director, I have noticed that the swim instructors are handling their classes much, much better. My grandchildren are 7 and 8 so I can only focus on their classes.
Most obvious to me is the way in which the swim teachers now handle the lesson. The students are given a task, then they call the children ONE BY ONE to take their turn. This insures that 1) the child knows the teacher is watching them alone and 2) the children are not on top of each other. This was the case prior, when the kids would all start together. It was chaos and impossible for a teacher to see each child individually. Also I notice the teacher is IN the water with the children. With the younger children this is a good thing.
The teaching and progression of the strokes is the second improvement. The stroke is broken down and taught in increments. So that the child begins to feel their way into the stroke. I watched Ellie swim lap after lap, each time adding a small change that eventually will become a full stroke. I liked that!
Also the testing seemed to be more strategic, and the kids rearranged into more compatible skill groups.
All in all a much improved program.

I love going to the ymca! My kids love the programs, and I use the fitness floor 3x a week. The thing I would change is getting a 3rd. Squat rack. A 3rd flat bench would be nice, but the squat rack is more important. When I go on Sundays they are not full. But I go between 4-6 on tuesday and Thursday and sometimes I don't get to use them, they are booked. Also, please don't get a Smith machine. They are not the same. Thank you for the consideration.
