Team format
Windstone was aweseom. Jeff Craig & Socco are the best and create a great learning environment for all the kids. Would like to see more courses for the kids (we mostly played at windstone).
Great, caring, loving coaches. Team atmosphere. Teaches golf safety, golf rules and etiquette. Sometimes hearing it from someone else helps it stick better.
Very low stress, great for our son who hasn’t enjoyed competitive high pressure sports. Great way to learn team work and make friends. Also being out in nature at the state park golf course is another great feature
My sons enjoy the PGA Junior League for team aspect. They learn from other players and build great relationships. It is a great way to learn the game!
I love the encouraging environment, opportunities to play other courses, accessibility to all kids of every level, and the competition of All Stars!
Team aspect, they have a partner.
Organized structure
We enjoyed everything about PGA Jr. League. My daughter has developed a love for golf that has inspired other family members to take up the sport. The coach taught them the sport but they were given the independence with their teammates during matches to learn decision making skills that will benefit them every time they play golf. There was wonderful sportsmanship within the team and with the opposing teams. I love how the parents would cheer and encourage every player during the matches, regardless of which team they were on. Another aspect that was great, is that with other sports in the past such as softball, we were literally spending half of our week at the ballpark which does not work well with homework and other activities. Our golf schedule was excellent with one to two matches per week and it was something we all looked forward to. It was a great experience and we are all looking forward to the Spring session. I have recommended PGA Jr. to friends and will continue to do so.
Low cost. Good instructors. My child enjoyed it.
The league is fun and everyone supports each other! I appreciate that the schedule is light, so the family isn't tied up every evening. I love Montgomery Bell's course too!
Promotes teamwork in a highly individualized sport.
This has been very enjoyable and helpful for him this season!!
It provides an opportunity for my son to learn about the game of golf, play competitively without excessive pressure and really understand the value of teamwork.
It was well organized. It gave my daughter a great expensive playing matches and taught her many things she needed to know about the game of gold!
All levels of skill were welcomed. Great instruction. Friendly competition encouraged. Great to see parents encourage other children.
It allowed my daughter to play with peers of all levels and learn the game. The match play allowed her to see the big picture but the emphasis wasn’t on winning but on improvement which took off some of the pressure that she would have if she were competing with a school. Tom Durban and Wesley were great with the kids. We liked seeing the different courses and just really enjoyed it.
Team approach, Tammy is an awesome teacher who really gives her all for the kids.
The fun laid back atmosphere and team aspect
Our coach is the best! I love the format, and I love that the kids have a great time!
What I don’t love is how I feel like this years winners (NC) in a way, cheated. I don’t like the fact that their coach flew 3 players in from Florida for Regionals, beat a really good Georgia team (all their players were from Georgia) and then went on to win. You guys need to revamp the ways that’s done bc coaches are going to just start handpicking their all star team from all over the US. How fair is that? It’s not. Kids wouldn’t be earning that spot, they are just given it. We (TN) made it to Nationals last year and it was such an amazing trip!! Our kids were from the Tri Cities and did play in our little PGA JR league area. Every.single.one.of.them. We didn’t go and handpick from across our state or even across the nation. We took the kids who had earned a spot and competed at the sectional qualifier, the state qualifier, the regional qualifier and then the National championship. We had an amazing group of kids but couldn’t compete when we got to Arizona and now I know why. They were playing with kids who had been handpicked from all over the country!! Not their area. It’s frustrating to learn that that’s what happens. I truly love the PGA jr league but I feel like a rule needs to be instated that states the junior needs to either: 1) live in the state they are competing for, or 2) have competed over 1/2 of the regular season matches for that area. Something needs to change. We wouldn’t have made it to AZ this year butninteulynfeel that Georgia would’ve. Amd I feel like they would’ve made it fair and square.
