Our Personal Trainer Kim Cox is an expert in physical fitness. Her husband is the director or rehab at Memorial Hermann Physical Therapy Center and they collaborate to ensure we stay fit and do it correctly.
Masters swimming with Megan is fantastic! She has so much energy & enthusiasm, and she makes practice a whole lot of fun.
The pool is very well configured for lap swimmers and is usually maintained at a comfortable temperature.
The fitness rooms are well equipped.
Fitness classes
YMCA swimming and water aerobics help me stay healthy and somewhat fit.
I have not done a class in awhile due to back surgery. But enjoy the treadmill and pool. Especially the pool. I am extremely unhappy that I can hardly ever get a walking lane.
Clean well lit facilities with up to date well maintained equipment. Good choice of classes and activities. Friendly and helpful staff.
The variety of group exercise classes, especially the ones suitable for seniors such as the Forever Well classes. At other gyms the classes were always too intense and too loud and I always ended up dropping out.
Water exercise classes are great, but WE Need MORE classes. The existing ones are really FULL. The pool is crowded with adults exercisers and kids that are in swimming lessons. Also would like to see ANOTHER water aerobics class like Dee used to teach before COVID with the
WAVE program she used. Lean Walker is a fabulous chair yoga teacher. I really enjoy her class.

Pilates reformer classes helped me recover from a major car accident. The instructors are dedicated and caring

I use the gym the most and the Shadowbend YMCA’s one is excellent and always so clean!

Fun classes, great, well qualified instructors.
I like the classes that are offered and especially the water aerobics classes. I have participated in the water aerobics classes for over 20 years.
The water aerobic classes are VERY popular. Either more water aerobic classes need to be offered or else change the app for the number of participants. People are registering at 9:01 am in order to get a spot and the class fills up almost immediately and a lot people are not participating.

Just what I need for my physical activity. Choices galore. Lots of activities for all. There is always something to do at the YMCA.
