What I like the most is your culture. It is open, friendly, and tremendous effort is placed on cleanliness. It is very clear the administration has worked hard to achieve this consistency.

As a result, and with limited facilities, this is a very popular location. You have to be strategic in your timing and approach to grab the equipment you use. For myself, I am there primarily for the treadmills. Your new Precors are very popular but there are so few compared to the rest of the treadmill equipment.

As I have shared in a previous survey, I would encourage you to continue to replace the old equipment, I would also encourage you to look at Life Fitness, particularly the Platinum Club Series or comparable. I belonged to a gym in ATL that had these and they were incredible - wide and with tremendous cushion - simply amazing.

My only complaint is really about members and the lack of awareness of gym etiquette. The concept of sharing equipment, allowing other members to “work in” is totally lost. I had a recent experience of when I approached a piece of equipment, asked one gentleman if he was using, he said no, and when I began to adjust the weights, another gentleman, who was seated on a bench, scrolling on his phone, jumped up and said he was using. I asked if I could work in and he said no, repeating he was on the equipment. This has happened several times. I would encourage you all to consider training your members on sharing, staying off their phones, etc. Arnold Schwarzenegger did a video at his outdoor gym in Venice Beach demonstrating gym etiquette that touched on all these areas - I’m sure you could find it as a point of reference.

Great programs!

I love the swimming pools and the hot tub, the Yoga classes, and the friendly faces and smiles. The overall atmosphere at the Downtown Y is delightful. The staff is friendly and courteous. I love the addition of our parking lot man, whose name just escaped me. The housekeeping staff does a marvelous job keeping everything clean. I know exercise makes us feel better mentally and physically and it shows in our members. Thank you for excellent management of a great facility.

What I like about the YMCA - Downtown

Lots of great fitness classes for all levels
Plenty of equipment to build strength and trainers to help you correctly use these
Motivational people some of which have had health problems but still participate in classes

I love the class options at all the locations and the wholesome family atmosphere!

I enjoy the senior workout classes on Mon, Wed, and Fri at 9:30. I also participate in the Fri 10:30 low impact class, especially when Laura teaches it. I look forward to her return! I like these classes because of the full coverage workout....weights, cardio, balance, stretching. I also very much enjoy the friendships I've formed with some of the participants! It's nice to workout with folks my own age!
I also use the weight machines in the front east corner to strengthen my muscles and bones. I add some cardio work on the elliptical sometimes, if my knee allows!! Thank you for keeping these areas and machines clean!

Love LOVE my Pilates class with Bebe. She is a fantastic teacher. She is so encouraging, thoughtful & kind. A real gem!!!!

The number of programs and activities of all kinds available at the location. When a friend is looking for a certain kind of program I often recommend them to the Y first because they will probably find it there.
