Member Testimonials
As a Y Associate I can say confidently that the Y is doing everything possible to provide a safe environment in all program areas. They/we are responding to the COVID situation with seriousness, care and common sense. The program offerings have been modified to adequately meet the needs of the membership and the community. Dealing with these changes has been challenging at times, but it is clear the Y is doing its best to lead us through this pandemic so that our bodies and minds -- and the organization -- will remain strong!
I only use the pool but everyone is friendly and the scheduling process is clear and works well.
Friendly, helpful staff
Staff is friendly, plenty of equipment is available, the hours are good, and I prefer working out in the company of others for motivation reasons.
The warm pool in the winter with less chemicals and the sauna
clean
Nice selection of group exercise classes with great instructors. Friendly staff. Clean.
I like that I can ask the staff questions about my workout and get fitness tips. I also like how they encourage me.
The Y in Towson desperately needs to add a third bench press and second squat rack, especially for people working out after 5pm on weekdays.
I love the variety of things to do, parent night, and activities for kids!
It feels safe. Stay and play and Family Swim are my daughter’s
Favorites right now but we look forward starting some new classes in November!
Facility is clean and well-run. Employees are friendly and helpful. I love the pool.
For me, the pool is my Y experience. I look forward to my appointments at the pool knowing that there is a lane for me. Prior to the new Covid pool protocol, going to the pool and not finding a lane or half a lane to swim in was stressful. I often lapsed into periods of not going at all. The pool and front desk are welcoming. The pool temperature is comfortable and soothing. When my 45 minutes are up, I feel renewed!
Everyone is always so kind. I am so grateful for the classes, especially the yoga, barre, and body sculpt. Working in the weight area is also a plus, even if I can only do a routine twice a week. Having a print out of exercises using certain machines really has helped me become a bit stronger. The people who work at the Y are an inspiration for us all.

I love the aqua instructors. The gym equipment is kept clean and the front desk people are the best ever!
Friendly welcomes, the pool temp isn't cold, the windows and the sunshine coming in, @ the pool. Seeing friends !
The administrative staff are incredibly patient and helpful. The facilities are great.
The booking system for the family pool is exasperating as many times registration is closed, but then theres no- one in the pool. Is there a way to check last minute availability?
Thx for all you do.
At the present I like the way the Y is being very careful during the COVID pandemic. I feel very safe both swimming and lifting weights in the fitness center. This is very important to me because I am 74 years old and am in a high-risk group for this virus
So happy to have the opportunity to swim laps during the pandemic. It is saving my life.
Everything - the weights, number of options for cardio work outs, the cleanliness, the trainers, the atmosphere. Favorite part of my day is spent at the Y.
We love the Y. Please open the stay and play on Sundays though, as it's one of the only times our kids get to safely see other kids in person during this period of all-virtual learning.
My favorite things at the Y are the water exercise classes- they’re great! The main problem now though are such restricted class sizes. They’re getting tougher and tougher to get into. A number of us have requested/ suggested that at least one more Lane is opened up during that 45 minutes Though- that would allow 4 more people in! And honestly sometimes not all the lanes even have swimmers in them - such a waste! Please consider that for us! Thanks!! Name removed
I feel safe at the Y during this pandemic. I feel that you have gone the extra mile. Like that you are taking temperature and requiring masks to be worn
I am overly cautious during this pandemic and you make me feel safe.
The efforts they are making to keep us safe are over and beyond! Loving the outdoor classes and pool opportunities! Keep up the good work! And as always your staff has been so friendly and helofuL!

Been wirh rgw YMCA for some time. I swam on their swim team summers of 1949 and 1950 summers zt Meadowbrook. {Team name was Meadowbrook-Y} Worked two summers for the Syracuse YMCA on Association Island in Lake Ontario establishing a boys camp {Camp Towsey} [The YMCA had been given the island by Genersl electrixc who had used it for their company retreat. It had a five hold golf couse, 8 MIT class sailboats, a fully equipped thester, a skeet range and 190 cabins. One end of the island was a family vsacation spot; we used the other end for our camp.
I worked for the Central Y of Maryland as Data Processing Manager from 1979 through 1991 at the Court Square Building and the Hergert Building.
I also belonged to the YMCA in Harrisburg,, Pa 1960-61 when I was on the road selling soap for Lever Brothers.
Glad to be back as a member.
