I learned to swim at my local Y in Lincoln, Neb as a child.
When I moved to Tampa in the early '70s, there was a Y but it offered sewing and Bible classes for women and did not have any gym or exercise programs. The facility available to men had a big pool and running track, weight rooms, etc., but women were not allowed to use it.
I went to the management and proposed it offer coed facilities.
Not too long after that, the Y began to admit women, and I was among the first female members to serve on its board.
I have been an active Y member most of my adult life, and am so much better for it. I am 76 now and stay fit with swimming.

Please move the Body Pump equipment back to where it was in Studio B. When it’s a full crowded class, that’s too many people trying get equipment in a short amount of time from the same 2 areas, versus having it in 3 different areas like it used to be.

The diverse number of activities that the Y has to offer are incredible, and the hours the Y is open help meet most any schedule.

There are a variety of classes and activities at the South Tampa Y. The staff is quite helpful.
My daughter enjoyed the activities as well as socializing with the other kids and making new friends.
