Zumba!
I like the fact that I can exercise with people my own age (older) and not feel intimidated by younger people or the machines. However, I would like to see more recumbent bikes as there are usually people waiting to use the two you have.

We are always surprised by the range and quantity of classes and projects on offer at the Y. It is a great place to exercise make friends and become part of the area in which we live. It has given us the desire to take part in things and strive to be better beings.

I love the variety of yoga classes.
I would like to see more dance classes in the evenings. Some people work and can only attend evening classes.
Also a body flow class would be nice in the evenings as well.
I've been a member of the Y and it's predecessors here for 20 years. Today's Y is the best it has ever been. I work out M,W,and F for three hours each. Two hours are on the cardio and weight machines and one hour is with Body Pump.
I think the selection of cardio and other weights and weight machines is excellent. The staff is friendly and helpful. I don't participate in any of the youth programs because of my age but there appears to be plenty of things available. I'm mostly just a workout/fitness person.
I'm glad this Y has engaged a handyman because that reduces concerns about the physical building and keeps it looking good.

Group classes
You have programs that address the age and skill levels as well as the physical needs of the individuual. These activities are for individuals and/or for groups. Also, the instructors pay attention to the ability and needs of each individual in the group.
Aquacise!!! The BEST exercise for me - and a lot of others. Most participants in the pool are there for health reasons - joint replacement, arthritis, etc. I don't know how many unsolicited comments I've heard about how much better they feel after being in the class for an hour.
Yoga - another good class for me - the chair yoga - stretching is very good - keeps me out of the physical therapy office - seriously.
Group exercise classes like Body Pump.
Individual options with machines, free weights and cycling are also helpful.

I love the community atmosphere and wide variety of group fitness classes. I love that I can walk into the Y and meet someone new each day. I may be a little biased though ;)
We go to Chair Yoga, which we enjoy, and occasionally go to the Circuit Training/Wellness Room to exercise when we feel the need. Although the Chair Yoga class is held at a difficult time of day (right at lunch time!), we like our instructor very much, as well as our group of attendees. And, of course, we can attend the CT Room when it's most convenient for us. And, of course, our occasional lunches with the Chair Yoga give us a chance to socialize with our fellow yoga participants, which is fun.
The staff are very helpful & polite. Always ready to help. The program instructors are Awesome as well. The only thing is the facility does not have a aquatic center like other YMCA Facilities.
I really like the chair yoga class led by Liz on Monday and Friday. I also enjoy the lunch gatherings from time to time. I have gotten to know and enjoy people in the class and the Silver Sneakers exercise class.
I think that the Rockbridge Area Y offers a wide variety of programs and activities. The place is clean and has something for almost everybody!

I appreciate the child watch, the youth gymnastics among the other programs for children. I am so happy that the Les Mills programs are back. I have LOVED TRX!! I wish it was a regular class at the Lex. YMCA.
