All of water activities classes!
I primarily use the pool. It is well maintained and well staffed. What I don't like about it is that, unlike other pools where I swim, the number of lanes that are actually marked off for lap swimming is almost always less than the number stated on the daily schedule for the pool. In addition, while I applaud the efforts of the Y to teach black kids to swim, those swimming lessons are NEVER listed on the daily schedule posted on the web. Thus, on more than one occasion I have gone to the Y, expecting to swim, only to find that the pool was being used for lessons. The daily schedules, posted on the web, should show when swimming lessons are scheduled.
This YMCA has great energy, good people, state of the art gym equipment and wonderful classes.
I am very disappointed with the workout center before you brought in new equipment there was a stare master now there is none there are 2 machines next two the treadmill along the wall only
one is working there are only 2 cycle there were 3 know one uses the other 2 cycle machines that has the screen why is there only 2 lanes made for free swim there should be at least 3 I am still a member at the y but I go to other facilities because they have better equipment I live near Andrew Young Y I shouldn't have to travel for better service. I started in May with taking a swim class because my next door neighbor was taking a spin class and she told me how much she enjoys coming to the Y. Swimming has been a lifelong goal of mine, so I decided to give it a try. Illonga was my first coach. He is AWESOME!!! I took his class in May & June. I am now taking the Saturday & Sunday classes in July/August with Juwari. Juwari is great, too! Once this class is over, I'm going to start coming to the Master Class. I'm so appreciative of the work you all do for the community at the Y. My life is so enriched now by the fact that I can swim. Illonga made sure that we developed good habits and worked so patiently with each one of us. I'm now a proud member of the YMCA!

The swim and exercise classes
The Andrew & Walter Young YMCA is a family friend place that offers a huge variety of swim, fitness exercise and classes for all ages and all levels of fitness. There is always something to do at the Young YMCA for fitness, health, education on health and important community issues, ie voting and it's fun to be at the Young Y! The Young Y is an integral part of serving the Southwest Atlanta community. Julie M T Walker
Observing myself and those around me the programs and activities stimulate each person toward visible progression.
I love that they are in close proximity to where I live. The members are all like family, and it has been around since I was a little girl in the 70s and has served as a place where residents of the community can use freely. I also love that the children are welcomed and the programs are centered and highlighted around the African-American culture, which is the larger of the demographic group in the community. As a result, there are more instructors and coaches that are of the same make-up and honestly, it is refreshing!
I’d like to see more instructors, coaches, as well as, more classes every day of the week offered. So, please recruit within the community more of the professionalism and passion we experience from our current instructors and coaches.

I love the friendly welcome, the clean and peaceful environment. The pool area is my favorite place.
