I like the friendly, low key approach. I've made lots of friends here over the years. I like the water aerobics and that there are several different approaches to that kind of class. I prefer a class that has less talk and more action.

Love the comraderíe among those of us who exercise early in the morning! My husband and I joined the DDY in March of 2009. We try to come 2-3 mornings a week to use the machines, the elliptical or swim. We are in better shape and have more stamina now (at ages 67 & 70) than we had a decade ago. The fitness staff is knowledgeable and helpful, and the front desk people are all friendly & welcoming. The DDY is one of the best things about this part of town!

I like the kind attitudes that most of the staff members have.

Our entire family enjoys the Decatur Y. From soccer to swimming to a quick workout, the Decatur Y is a well-oiled machine!

I swim, but wish that there were more times for lap swimmers.
Also I’d like excercise class in the morning for half hour increment instead of full hour. So I can work out, clean up in an hour and get to work on time.

The Decatur Y is my home away from home! Everyone from the front desk to the membership desk to the instructors to the other members is super friendly and warm. The classes are varied and offer different vibes depending on instructor. It doesn't get any better than Safiyah, Alfred, Jan, Jennifer, Lucky, Lloyd, Cyndi, Sudie, and Lisa . It would be challenging to find a bad teacher at DDY.
My grandson took swimming from Gene and in 6 weeks time he learned how to swim!
The only negative I can think of are logistics. There should be a single bathroom and water fountain outside of the main exercise class room.

The Decatur YMCA offers a great variety of classes and programs at an affordable price. The exercise and weight room is nice and has lots of machine options. The best thing about the Decatur YMCA is the wonderful variety of people in the YMCA community. You will find all ages, genders, nationalities, ethnicities, and abilities represented at the Y. Everyone is welcomed with open arms!

Upstairs workout room is so much nicer after renovation. I moved to College Park and still come to the decatur y because it’s so much nicer and there’s not a good YMCA near College Park.
We use exercise and pool facilities regularly. Appreciate programs for children , especially in summer

The staff is knowledgeable and nice.
I like the friendly and laid-back atmosphere. I like the number of group classes offered, the variety of classes, and the intensity of the classes. I like there are a significant number of cardio machines so I rarely have to wait.
