The diversity of instruction is something I appreciate. No matter what your goals are, there’s a class and instructor just right for you. There’s a pleasant atmosphere—-fun and fitness combined. And I like the frequent opportunities to contribute needed items to members of our community.
exercise classes are both fun and useful
The people who work at Decatur Y are always friendly and helpful. I love the variety of classes that are offered and the people who teach the classes. I just wish there were more body pump classes because they fill up within a minute of being posted. But I realize that instructors are hard to come by.
Love the childcare and social activities as well as the weight room and pool.

Only use the machines, but have heard good things about the programs.
I do wish the broken machines were fixed a little faster. It would be really helpful if the staff would ask people not to sit on a machine and talk to someone while others are waiting to use the machine.
I come for Tai Chi and enjoy it very much. The instructor is very Knowledgeable and works well with beginners in her class

the whole upstairs is like an adult jungle gym!! the spacers between the treadmills make it feel very secluded and feels with focusing.

I am retired, and after meeting with Coach Walker a year ago, I have been doing an exercise routine that basically rotates thru about 8-10 different Cybex units.
I haven’t taken advantage of the group programs offered.
I like how the facility is being continuously cleaned. I see cleaning crew members dusting equipment and sweeping floors nearly every visit I make!
Variety of activities available every day. I love that there’s things for my whole family to do. I love the coaches that teach my son’s basketball clinic. I love the facility and seeing the variety of people that come to it.
My only complaint is: we chose the Y because it was better for us as a family. We had another gym that we liked to come to in the afternoons, but felt bad that my 11-year-old son couldn’t come with us. However several times when we’ve brought him to the Y staff has stopped him in the hallway and told him he cannot walk around without a guardian, even when he’s just going to the bathroom. We’ve also had people stop and question us for bringing him to use the exercise machines with us, even though he’s old enough, and we stay right by his side and monitor his use. He’s a pretty shy kid so all of this has made him feel like he’s in trouble and he doesn’t want to come as much which is a bummer.

There are a variety of programs and a nice atmosphere. Three main reason I joined was to use the pool and so far I've been really happy with the availability of lanes for lap swimming.

Many things to do. Would like more pickleball with fewer confusing lines (like Eastlake).
